Because you are represented by counsel, I cannot communicate directly with you. However, there is no
prohibition against the party to litigation communicating directly with the other parties. Stated another way,
my client is free to communicate with members of the council, but I am not. To avoid problems, in the future
I would be most appreciative if you would
communicate with me through your counsel.
Best regards.

I am writing to advise you (and by copy of this email to advise the City Attorneys) that your
client Royal Calkins is communicating directly with at least one council member, if not more,
which is totally inappropriate under the circumstances. As you know, the litigation you brought
on his behalf against the City is still pending.
As all City Council members are represented by legal counsel in matters pertaining to your
client’s actions, would you please advise him to immediately stop communicating with us
directly, and go through the appropriate channels, such as yourself to our attorneys?
In other words, please get some control over your client, and have him stop sending out his
harassing emails to us.
Thank you for your consideration. I am sure our lawyers can take it from here with you.
