METHOD STATEMENT OF BORED PILE WORKS OF PREK HO BRIDGE

Introduction

This is method statement for present the bored pile works of PREK HO Bridge.
The following articles describe the work items concerning the work procedure, quality control.

1. Scope of Work

Quantity of foundation pile is as follows:

2. Preparation Work and Mobilization Equipment

- Working area shall be cleared, grubbed, filling, and leveling.


- Preparation Access road and crane way as following the attach drawing
- All necessary Equipments for boring pile works will be arranged to site.

3. Construction Process

1) Set the actual position of pile by surveyor.


2) Install temporary casing by vibro hammer 60kw. to the depth of 6m. Temporary casing
shall be ID.1.30mx t 12 mm. for pile dia.1.20 m. and ID 1.60 m x t 1.2 mm. for pile
dia.1.50 m.
During driving, the position and verticality of casing shall always be confirmed by
plumb blob or theodolite.
After temporary casing has been driven to specified depth, the position of casing shall
be re-confirmed by E.D.M.
3) Soil inside casing shall be excavated by hammer grab.
4) Filling up casing by drilling mud.
The drilling mud shall be properly prepared and the properties shall be controlled
carefully in order to get the good result of drilled hole. The drilling mud shall has
adequate viscosity to prevent caving of bored hole and lost circulation of drilling mud.
Mud cake that causes less friction of pile be minimized by admixture of polymer. The
basis of mix ratio for drilling mud shall be has following:
- Bentonite 3–4%
- Polymer 0.1%
- Viscovity 35 – 45 sec / 960 cc.
- Ph 9 – 11
- Density 1.03 – 1.10
- Sand content less than 5 %
5) Set up TBH drilling machine in position.
6) Drilling the hole Dia.1.20 m and 1.50m by reverse circulation method to specified
depth. The drilling machine of Tone model TBM shall be used. The drilling machine
shall be set on H-beam base which were fixed with derrick high 9 m. Drilling bet shall
be 4 – wing bit ring type of dia. 1.20 and 1.50m .
7) After drilling to specified depth, the drilling mud shall be continued circulation drilling
mud with treated to drilling mud. Then, the depth of bored hole shall be inspected.
8) After that, drilling machine and drilling sting shall be removed.
9) The size and verticality of drilled hole shall be inspected and recorded by ultrasonic
drilling monitor.
10) Install rebar cage. Rebar cage shall be assembled in the yard and delivered to drilling
site by trailer truck. When lifting up the cage, the protection from deformation of cage
shall be special cared. The cage shall be installed with spacers to make sure the
covering of concrete. During the installation, rebar cage shall be support by supporting
beam. After all, the rebar cage shall be hung on the pomporary casing to prevent the
deformation of cage.
11) Install tremie pipe dia. 250 mm . to the depth of about 10 cm. above the bottom of
bored hole. Before installation, the charac teristic of the pipes such as the dent,
bending distortion, concrete debris and damage of O-ring at each tremie pipe shall be
inspected.
12) After installation of tremie pipes, the slime at the bottom of drilling hole shall be clean
up by air lifting through tremie pipe.
13) Concreting.
Concrete shall be supplied from batching plant and be delivered to site by concrete
agitaror truck. Concrete from agitator truck shall be discharged through concrete
hopper which is fixed on top of tremie pipe to drilled hole. During the concreting,
tremie pipe shall be embedded in concrete at least 2m.
14) After concreting to designed level, the temporary casing shall be ret rived.

6. Cycle time

9. Installation of tremie pipe 1 hrs.
10. Concreting 1.5 hrs.
11. Cleaning the site and move to next pipe 0.5 hrs.

Total 23.5 hrs.
