BIOLOGY MR.

ECCLES Room 316

Email: seccles@muhsd.org
Welcome to BIOLOGY at Merced High School. Biology is a dynamic field in this day
and age, with huge advances in Molecular Biology, Genetics, Ecology, and Human
Impact being discovered and applied in today’s society. We will explore the practices of
science, engineering, and technology (1 to 1); organization and function of life;
ecosystem energy flow, structure, and dynamics; genetics and variation; evolutionary
relationships, biodiversity, and human impact. This course is designed to use a variety
of strategies to explore this knowledge, and then be able to find real life solutions to
apply in and out of the classroom. In today’s increasingly complex and technological
society, science and engineering practices have become a tool to solve many problems
in most people’s lives. The usefulness of this course extends beyond the realm of just
science.
