Backsheet Protection

Tedlar Attributes
®

The industry prefers Tedlar as the backing sheet due to its

®

unique properties that offer long-term, superior protection

against the elements:
• UV resistance
• moisture barrier
• resistance to weathering
• mechanical properties
• strength & durability
• electrical insulation
• UL recognized
• inertness toward a wide variety of chemicals,
solvents, and staining agents

Tedlar has been an important component of backsheets for

and PV2100 Series films. Both types are commercially avail-

popular backsheet construction is a trilaminate
“sandwich” of polyester film between two layers of Tedlar PV2100 Series Films
®

Tedlar film. This is commonly referred to as TPT .

® ™
The Tedlar PV2100 Series of photovoltaic films represent
®

additional functionality for photovoltaic modules. PV2111 is

designed to be more dimensionally stable and reflective than
PV2001. TPT backsheets made with PV2100 Series films

will be less prone to wrinkling during vacuum lamination.

Solar modules made with PV2111 can provide increased
power output because the backsheet promotes higher
internal reflectance.

Tedlar PV2100 Series films have a smooth, glossy

®

appearance leading to attractive laminates. The film-making

technology for PV2100 Series films leads to minimum
thickness variation across the film.
