World History and Geography is a yearlong course
examining major historical events and periods
from 1450 - modern day and how geography
impacted these events/time periods. This course
concentrates on humanity’s more significant
political, economic, cultural, and intellectual
achievements. Content includes Eastern Empires,
the Renaissance, Reformation, major revolutions,

General Expectations
● Grades are based upon the demonstration of proficiency on units associated with a standard given during each formative or
summative assessment. Formative grades in addition to summative unit assessments will be used to holistically determine
your grade.
● Summative: 80% ​Summative measures of achievement are taken when unit master is expected. (i.e., unit tests, culmination
of a project, embedded assessments, etc.)
● Formative: 20%​ Formative assessments measure the scaffolding skills and/or content embedded in the unit. Formative assessments
are taken frequently, after a student has practiced a skill or become familiar with content. Examples of formative assessments include
but are not limited to exit tickets, paragraphs, oral check for understanding, warm-ups, stages in a large project, etc.
● Assessments will be graded based on teacher/district/state rubrics.
● On group projects, students will receive a grade for individual work and a group grade.
● Grades are based on achievement of Content Standards and Grade Level Expectations.

Classroom Policies:

1. Attendance/Absences/Makeup Work​: Your presence in class is essential. If you must miss class due to illness or other circumstances
beyond your control, it is ​your responsibility​ to find out which assignments you missed, to get the handouts; check the Google calendar on
the weebly site and/or Google Classroom for missing work.

Makeup Work Policy:


Excused absence: ​You have the number of days you missed plus one additional day for any missing work.
Unexcused:​ See me to discuss the reason for your absence and options for making up the work.

2. Passes:​ Students may leave to go to the bathroom after the first 5 minutes and before the last 5 minutes of class. Please take the
pass, sign out, and go one at a time. Your student ID is necessary to leave the classroom.

3. Electronic Devices:​ Follow your phone agreement (we will determine this in the first week of class).

4. Food and Drink:​ No food and water, sports drinks, coffee, and tea are allowed. (No sticky drinks)

5. Plagiarism and Cheating:​ Plagiarism and cheating will result in a zero for your assignment and a conversation to problem solve how to
repair the situation.
