was born in 1958 in Omaha, Nebraska, and grew up in the South of Florida. His artistic career began
almost forty years ago when he began studying at Palm Beach Junior College in Lake Worth, Florida.
At that time he was publicly exposed. In addition to visual art, he was also attracted by writing,
which led him not only to use textual and linguistic elements in his works, but also to the
experimental writing he devoted to his artistic profession.
He spent several years in Florida, then moved to North Carolina to continue his studies at North
Carolina University in Chapel Hill. After graduating from the school in 1986, he continued to exhibit
his works, and the North Carolina Arts Council awarded him the New Works grant in 1997, which
Klauke used to create and illustrate the book ad infinitum. The book was published in 1987 in the
Nexus Press Atlanta publisher. After many years of it, excerpts from the collection of conceptual
texts came out against the term: Anthology of Conceptual Writing. (Against Expression: An
Anthology of Conceptual Writing, Craig Dworkin and Kenneth Goldsmith, eds. / Evanston, IL:
Northwestern University Press, 2011).
In 1992, Klauke was awarded the Individual Artist Fellowship scholarship awarded by the North
Carolina Art Council. In 1995 he had a separate exhibition at the Mint Museum of Art in North
Carolina Charlotte. In the following years, he continued to exhibit.
In 2001, he developed the "textual pointillist" style of drawing that he has dedicated to this day. In
2008, the North Carolina Arts Council awarded him the Individual Artist Fellowship scholarship, and
he exhibited in the National Humanities Center in 2009.
Klauke's works have appeared in dozens of different catalogs and publications, including Art Papers,
New Art Examiner and The Art of Typewriting by Marvin and Ruth Sackner (London, Thames &
Hudson, 2015). His works are in the Mint Museum of Art collection, The Gregg Museum of Art in
Raleigh, North Carolina, Sackner's Archive of Concrete and Visual Poetry in Miami, Florida, and
private collections in the United States and Europe.
