2. Ensure third party inspected lifting equipments (Jacks, slings, shackles
etc) are used.
3. Inspect the condition of the lifting equipments before and after use.
4. Maintain lifting equipment, guide and monitor operators to use it
correctly.
5. Any defective or damaged or expired inspetion lifting equipment should
not be used and to be ceased by the Workshop Superviosr to avoid
unauthorized usage.

7. Ensure to use rigid chokes to support the load in case of jack fails.
8. Use jacks on a hard, level surface eg concrete and avoid lifting on
sloping ground.
9. Use the correct pins for axle stands - screwdrivers, nails and bolts are

10. Securely chock wheels remaining on the ground.
11. Make sure that all lifting points for jacks and stands are correct for that
vehicle - consult the vehicle manufacturer's handbook for guidance.
12. While conducting repairs outside workshop premises make sure the
ground is firm and leveled before raising a vehicle.
13. Always prop cabs, trailers etc that could drop under their own weight
14. If there is no prop fitted or if one is fitted but you are unsure it will be
effective, then provide your own additional support.
15. Never crawl beneath a vehicle fitted with air suspension unless it is

recovery or repair.

a serious injury.
12. Do not use defective tools, replace or repair a defective tool
accordingly.
13. Use the proper wrench to tighten or loosen nuts. Pliers can chew the

14. Do not use a wrench if the jaws are sprung.
15. Do not use impact tools, such as chisels, wedges, or drift pins, if their
heads are mushroom shaped. The heads may shatter upon impact.
16. Iron or steel hand tools may cause sparks and be hazardous around
flammable substances. Use spark-resistant tools made from brass, plastic,
aluminum, or wood when working around flammable hazards.
17. Do not hold the work piece against your body while using a
screwdriver.
18. Do not throw tools/ mterials towards other workshop employees.
19. Use finger saver devices whle working with impact tools such as chisel,
hammers, etc.

5. Hoses kept clear from path ways to avoid tripping hazard.

8. Oxy-Acetylene cylinders to be stored in an upright position, chained on a
trolley.
9. Make a visual inspection of all equipment for any damage before starting
to light the torch.
10. Always crack open a cylinder valve.
11. Never stand in front of or put your face above the valve while opening
the cylinder valve.
12. Always use a flint striker to light the torch, do not use matches or
cigerette lighter.
13. Ensure the working pressure for the Oxy- Acetylene is set
as per the standard ratio.
14. Burning blowpipe is never placed on the floor or bench.
15. Lit blowpipesshould be handled carefully and should not be hung on a
gas cylinder shroud or left unattended even for a short period of time.
16. Hot objects left to cool in safe place with warning notice if necessary.
17. Technician to maintain suitable body posture to avoid
ergonomical hazard.
