The document describes weld joints, classifications of welding consumables, sizes of consumables, and welding processes for different parts of a crane. It specifies the material classifications, sizes, and processes for fillet and butt joints in girders, end plates, diagonal braces, stiffeners, guide angles, rail bars, handrails, and other crane components. It provides notes on welding consumable classifications for steel grades, preheating requirements for high tensile steel, and drying and storage requirements for E7028 electrodes.

1 Note:
- Welding consumable classifications herein are applicable to weld material
A36 & its equivalent.
- Welding consumable classifications herein, except E 7024 and E6013, are
also applicable to weld high tensile steel, e.g. DIN ST 52-3, ASTM A572- GR50, DIN/EN S355J2G3 & ASTM A516-GR70.
- Special consideration on high tensile steel material preheating requirement
prior to welding for thickness 50mm & above using process SMAW with low hydrogen electrodes (E 7018 & E 7028), SAW, GMAW and FCAW.
- Electrode manufacturer’s recommended drying temperature for E 7028 to
fully comply without compromising. Generally, the drying temperature for fresh electrodes straight from the packing require drying 250 to 300 0C for 30 to 60 minutes prior to use. Holding temperature of 80 to 120 0C in quiver while in use and the maximum holding period no longer than 4 hours.
