JOB PROCEDURE for Pilling
Work Bore Cast-in-situ
2.0 SCOPE:
This procedure covers a broad statement of methodology & control for following
activities & related documentation pertaining to driven cast-in-situ RCC piling
works:
2. Construction of piles
3.0 REFERENCES:
Cement:
Cement shall be bought from approved vendors and the batch test certificate shall be
reviewed. Cement shall be stored in closed stores on elevated platform to avoid
deterioration due to moisture.
Aggregate:
Coarse and fine aggregate conforming to IS:383 shall be sourced from appr oved
locat ion. Regular sieve analysis tests @ 1 test per 250cu.m for sand and 1 test
per 350cu.m for coarse aggregate shall be conducted as a minimum. Aggregate shall
be stored size wise near batching plant in such a way as to avoid intermixing of
different sizes and to avoid contamination with soil. Fine aggregate conforming to Zone-
IV of IS:383 shall not be used.
Water:

Execution methodology
A. Survey works:
B. Pile driving;
2. Place center of drilling auger on the pile location and check the center.
4. Position casing and drive inside the pre-bored hole carried out.

6. Bail out additional soil from the bottom of the hole and subsequently
drive casing further into soil strata.
7. DMC chisel shall be placed in position and DMC rods shall be fitted to
the chisel.
10. Check list of bentonite slurry is Density (by Hydrometer), Viscosity (by
Marsh Cone), pH value.
11. The Bentonite shall be pumped under pressure and re-circulated via
the bentonite slurry tank. The procedure shall be followed till founding
level is available.
12. Take final depth of clear borehole and following the pile termination
criteria as per RFC drawing.
13. Wash the bore before removing the DMC rods and specific gravity of
the bentonite slurry before & after washing shall be recorded.
14. The final depth of clear borehole shall be taken and record jointly. The
final bore depth after socketing in the rock shall be got approved from
the tkIS.

D. Concreting
1. After the cage lowering finishes, lower tremmie pipe in the bore up to the
required depth.
2. All the joints of the tremmie pipes shall be tightened and secured against
any leakage of water entry inside the pipe.
6. Pour the high slump concrete as per approved design mix with the slump
between 150mm to180mm.
7. Fill the concrete in hopper fully.
8. Remove plug and charge concrete though tremmie.
9. After placing concrete though tremmie. Check leakage of water entry or
water surge through tremmie pipe before commencing 2nd filling of
concrete and throughout the concrete placement.
10. Again, fill the hopper fully and charge the concrete inside the hole.
Maintain overlap of about 1.00 meter in concrete mass in the hole and
tremmie pipe, so that extra head of concrete shall be maintained to avoid
water entry in tremmie pipes.
11. While pouring concrete through tremmie, jerk hopper up and down to
spread the concrete in the pile body. This operation also compact the
concrete.
12. Tremmie can be withdrawn slowly maintaining sufficient overlap of
concrete in hole and in tremmie.
13. The pouring of concrete shall continue till lean concrete mixed with slurry
shall come out from the bore hole above the cut-off level of the Pile.
14. Remove remaining tremmie pipes, bottom and hopper from the
casing/hole.
