(儿子:好好学习——son, study hard!;与其提要求,不如做个榜样——It is better being an

good example than making demands)

Wise people used to say that taking actions is of utmost significance in our
daily life. This is most vividly illustrated in the given picture, which shows that
a father is asking his little son to study hard in the first picture, while in the
second picture, the father is setting a model for the son. They happily sit together
to study. Funny as the picture, the symbolic meaning is as deep as ocean.
Studying it further, it is easy to figure out that taking actions to guide the
child is the only way to fulfill parents’ responsibility. Our family, for example,
has been the first place to grow . The parents have exerted about 80% influence on
the education of the kids. There is no denying that it is the parents’ perseverance
and taking actions that really guide the the kids to succeed . If they never take
action to do something, the children will never have a real guide to follow. An old
saying goes like this: Like father ,like son. A wise father will do his endeavor
to help his kids. Kids’ ability to judge right from wrong needs to be developed,
so if the adults are not setting a good example, they may lead them to a wrong way.
In a word, I believe, As long as parents give their kids the lead by practising
what they preaches, their kids will surely follow their way. They should remind the
awareness that parents’ action speaks louder than their words.

A group of friends, boys or girls, are having a dinner party while each one of them is
checking messages in their mobile phones without saying a word to one another, leaving the
dishes untouched. We are informed that this is a gathering in the era of mobile phone.
The above picture unveils a common social phenomenon and the symbolic meaning of
the photo is the effect of the mobile phone on people's way of life. Undoubtedly, the phone
provides us with considerable convenience, making many things possible which are beyond our
dreams. As a communication tool, the phone makes us closer than ever before by providing
immediate communication. Meanwhile, there are negative effects on our personal life. As is
shown in the picture, people are imprisoned in their own world! They choose contacting online
rather than communicating face to face.
Accordingly, enjoying the convenience provided by the phones, we should bear in mind
that human beings are social beings who need real interpersonal interactions! Joint efforts are
needed to ensure people to have face-to-face communication! I believe a harmonious
relationship between friends is awaiting us if we set aside our mobile phones and enjoy the
untouched meal!

(三十年前:30 years ago ; 现在:now ; 相携:care each other)

In the first cartoon, three decades ago, along the road walked a young and vigorous mother,
leading her beloved daughter hand in hand, with a sweet smile on her beautiful face.On the
contrary, nowadays the daughter in the prime of her life is supporting her aged mother with her
firm arm in the second portrayal. And below the drawing, there is a topic which says: mutual
support.

The aim of the picture is to illustrate that practicing filial piety is of great importance in
our current society. For one thing, we have inherited this world from our parents and
grandparents. If not for the hard work of the past generations, including the aged among us, the
modern society that we enjoy today would not be possible. For another, the senior citizens have
worked hard to provide for their families, for society and for younger generations. The majority of
them have led struggles to create better living and working conditions for posterity.

To sum up, it is tradition in China to respect the elderly and to take care of the young. It
can be exemplified by giving up our seat on the bus for someone older, by inviting our parents to
live with us once they retire, and listening to their advice about personal or work problems.
Although some of the Chinese traditions are disappearing, one tradition should never fade away
is that of taking care of the elderly. (238 words)
