    About the PetroBowl Competition
    The PetroBowl competition was founded in 2002, and was created, organized, and administered
    by the SPE Gulf Coast Section taking place during the SPE Annual Technical Conference and
    Exhibition (ATCE). As its popularity grew, the Gulf Coast Section incorporated international
    contestants to make it a truly global event.

    In 2014, two regional qualifiers took place in Africa and Asia allowing more international teams
    to compete. In 2015, the regional qualifiers were expanded to six contests and now take place in
    Africa Asia Pacific, Europe, Latin America and Caribbean, Middle East, and North America.
    This resulted in the best 36 teams competing in the most diverse championship and the first non-
    US champion was crowned at ATCE 2015.
