1. INTRODUCTION

Purpose

The purpose of this document is to define the features of the Smoke Detector for
the project “Barahona 1 Repowering Project”.

Scope

This report defines main features of the Smoke Detector for the project “Barahona
1 Repowering Project”.

Project Description

The Owner, Empresa Generadora de Electricidad Haina S.A. (EGE Haina), is one
of the main electricity generating companies in the Dominican Republic.
The Owner intends to install and operate a new 55 MW steam turbine generator
(Barahona 1 Repowering Project). The proposed new steam turbine will be located
in the city of Barahona on the southwestern coast-line of the Dominican Republic
and will be built adjacent to an existing steam turbine generator currently in
operation since 2002 and generating 45 MW net.
