1 Release Notes - Version 10
Important Notes
New Licensing System
The Runge License Management System (RLMS) replaces Runge SiteAdmin and must be installed to run
Talpac 10. Please refer to the RLMS documentation for information on installation and operation of the new
licensing system.

Upgrading your Projects

Projects created in Talpac 2005 or earlier will need to be upgraded. Talpac will prompt you to upgrade these
models when you attempt to open them.

Back up your Project before upgrading. Projects upgraded to Talpac 10 format cannot be read
by Talpac 2005 or earlier versions.

Projects created in Talpac 9 do not need to be upgraded. Projects can be shared between Talpac 9 and
Talpac 10.

Talpac System Requirements

These are the recommended minimum requirements. Talpac will run on a lower specification machine but
performance will be compromised.

Item Requirement

Operating System Windows 2000, Windows XP or Windows Vista.

Processor At least 500MHz Pentium or AMD.

Memory 512MB of RAM. More RAM will be required for larger projects with many
simulation runs.

Graphics 1024 x 768 at 16 bit colour, or better.

New Features and Enhancements

Limit haul cycle fixed speed to %

Vehicle speeds for each Haul Cycle segment are calculated based on the maximum possible speed the
vehicle is capable of (Max), or the maximum speed up to a fixed speed limit, as entered in the Max km/h
field.

COMPANY CONFIDENTIAL AND PROPRIETARY INFORMATION 1

Fixed Haul Cycle speed

All fixed speeds in a Haul Cycle can be restricted to a percentage of their value by entering a percentage in
the Limit haul cycle fixed speed to % field in the Project Options > General tab.

Lim it haul cycle fixed speed to %

Example:
If the Haul Cycle Segment "Curve on to ramp" has a Max km/h value of 30.0, entering 50% will limit the speed

to 15.0 km/h.

This value has no effect on vehicle speed for segments where the Max km/h field is set to
Max.

New Export options

Export result time values as
Time values from the Results table can be exported in String or Decimal format by selecting the appropriate
radio button from the Export result time values as option. When String format is selected a time value of 22
hours 10 minutes is exported as 22:10. When Decimal format is selected a time value of 22 hours 10
minutes is exported as 22.17.

Export events from last shift to ASCII file

All Haul Cycle events can be exported to a text file by selecting the Export events from last shift to ASCII
file option.

Scrapers available for Load and Carry

Scrapers are found in both the Loader and Truck databases so they can be used for a typical Haul Cycle or
for Load and Carry Scenarios. To use a Scraper in a Load and Carry Scenario, select the required Scraper
from the Loading Unit Database.

CurveCreator

COMPANY CONFIDENTIAL AND PROPRIETARY INFORMATION 3

This program has been designed to help Talpac users create Rimpull and Retard graphs with precision and
accuracy. It digitizes the input graph image and maps the user selected X and Y values to a collection of
points. This data can then be copied into Talpac.

CurveCreator

CurveCreator can accept both traditional X-Y axis graphs, and double-X axis graphs as typically used by
Caterpillar and Komatsu to graph retard curves.
Select Tools > CurveCreator from within Talpac to launch the program.

Project Options now accessible from Templates

The Project Options button in the Truck and Loader Templates provides direct access to the relevant Project
Options settings, without having to close the Template.

Project Options

Project Properties now called Data File Management

The menu option File > Project Properties has been renamed to File > Data File Management to better
reflect the options in this section.

Improved Results Table

Calc Type
Add the Calc Type field to the Results Talpac of an Incremental Analysis to see whether the analysis was
run as a Quick Estimate or Full Simulation.

Maximum Velocity
View the maximum Haul Cycle velocity achieved by Truck 1 by adding the field T1 Maximum Velocity to the
Report.

Maxim um Velocity

View the maximum velocity for Truck 2 by adding T2 Maximum Velocity, and Truck 3 by adding T3
Maximum Velocity.

Productivity Per Working Hour

View the productivity achieved per hour for each run by adding the field Productivity Per Working Hour to
the Report.

Auto-Max Number of Trucks

COMPANY CONFIDENTIAL AND PROPRIETARY INFORMATION 6

Auto-Max

The Fleet Size can be limited to a maximum number of Trucks by entering an Auto-Max value. To enter this
value, click on the down arrow or type the value preceded by the letter "a" - e.g. "a15". When an Auto-Max
value is set, Talpac will run the simulation using the same formula as Auto but the maximum number of
Trucks will not exceed the Auto-Max value. Auto-Max can be set to any value between 1 and 200.

Production values for Load and Carry

Production values for Load and Carry scenarios are now displayed in the Productivity Summary results.
