Content
TLED 430

Activity The students will be creating a story book online
that is based around what they want to be when
they grow up. Through this story book they are
able to practice writing for correct grammar,
punctuation, capitalization, and spelling. The
teacher will discuss why they wanted to be a
teacher when they were growing up, how they
became a teacher, and their favorite part about
being a teacher. This will lead into the students’
story book based around what they want to be
when they get older. The teacher will display on
the projector how to get to the Book Creator One
app. The student will need to include the following:
-What they want to be when they grow up.
-What the occupation that they want to do
includes.
-Why they want to be what they choose.
-How the occupation helps others.
The app is very bright, creative, and draws the
children into creating while also learning.
Pedagogy
The students will be creating a Venn diagram based
on the Jack and Annie from the Magic Treehouse
book, High Tide in Hawaii. They will compare and
contrast the way each story book character reacts
to the situation that they are in. The teacher will do
a quick recap on the story book. Then the teacher
will display the app on the projector and how to
use the Kidspiration Maps Lite app. Once the
children have done four comparisons in each
bubble of the diagram, they will save their work
and send it to the neighbor they are assigned to.
The neighbors are able to open up the diagrams
that were sent to them and then they will add two
more comparisons and contrasts.

The students are able to save their work, and if

their parents choose to at home they can even get
their book printed as a keepsake.
