1.4. Unit Description

This system provides communication room with intelligent free cooling

system such as air circulation, and contains no refrigerating elements. It
achieves natural cooling by directly having the cold air outside entered into the
machine room entered and discharging the hot air inside out of the room. It can
be utilized independently or forms an air-conditioning system in the room by
being used with its main refrigerating equipment. This system features energy
efficiency: 1. The energy efficiency ratio is more than 20 (the energy efficiency
ratio of ordinary air conditioner is about 2.6); 2. The efficient, intelligent and
energy-saving control logic co-operates air conditioner operation to ensure
energy saving. 35%~80% energy can be usually saved by utilizing this
system.
The structure of this system is applicable to civil communication room and
communication room made with sandwich panels (outdoor system is antitheft.)

strength for base station in the civil building or made with sandwich
panels. It should be conducted on the condition that the barriers are
cleared and there are no sundries on the ground.
2.1.2 The operation site should have relevant auxiliary facilities such as ladder,
rack, safety protection and fire-fighting equipments. Constructor’s
technical, quality and safety handover should be available.
2.1.3 All kinds of installation materials should be equipped with certificate of
compliance or quality appraisal document and product list.
2.1.4 The finished air duct shall not be deformed, twisted, cracked, holed,
flange-falling, snapping, rivet-missing and bolt-hole-missing:
2.1.5 Check whether the regulating device is flexible and whether the valve
block is damaged before pipe body and tuyere are installed.
2.1.6 Installation materials: Wrapping band, insulated rubber tape, wiring
channel, bolt, nut, gasket, backing, sealing strip, tapping screw, pull rivet,
power cords, fastener and expansion bolt should comply with the product
quality requirements.

2.2.Tools

The main tools include: hammer, impact drill, electric hand drill (with ¢
3.3, ¢4, ¢5, ¢6, ¢8 or ¢10 bit), scroll saw (sandwich panel room) / ¢
250 or ¢300 drill (civil machine room), marker, sand mill, screwdriver, M4
sleeve, test pencil, scissors, leveling instrument and brush etc.

2.3.Site Selection

Confirm the installation position of inlet and outlet air unit according to the
machine room conditions. The air inlet unit is usually installed at the
less-sun-shines side of the communication room while the outlet unit is
installed on the wall which is just opposite to the air inlet unit. The installation

height of outlet unit is 300-500mm upwards outlet fan box along the ceiling
while the installation height of the air inlet unit is 600-800mm downwards the air
inlet fan box along the ground.

2.4.Open Package and Inspection

This product is packaged in carton. For package opening, firstly

remove the wrapping band outside the package, take out the product after
opening the upper cover of carton and check the packing list in time after
opening the carton.
Note:
After opening the external package, please check whether the appearance
of free cooling system is damaged. If any damage is found, please report the
barcode outside the package to the seller within one week.
If the product is not installed immediately or it is to be transported to other
region, please repack the free cooling system after inspection.
To protect the environment, we suggest recycling the carton.

2.5.Unit Installation

Don’t apply any force to the protecting net of fan and louver in the free
cooling system so as to avoid unnecessary damage. If it is transported in batch,
please fix the free cooling system well prior to the transport. The installation
flange has been fixed well in the free cooling system. Waterproof treatment
should be conducted in advanced during installation, then the installation can
be carried out.

2.6.Positioning

Draw up the positions of air inlet and outlet on the selected wall of machine

room as per the holing paperboard model (shown in Fig. 2-1). Refer to outline
dimension drawing for the hole position of screw.
Hole size of paperboard model: ¢250, ¢300 round hole, or 300*300
square hole.

Fig. 2-1

2.7.Holing

Use the drilling machine to drill the hole at the drawn position. The hole is
drilled from the external wall to the internal wall of base station. Internal cutting
is conducted, internal positions should be protected. Dust prevention should be
done for isolation.
Clean the dust inside and along the hole.

3.10. System Functions

3.10.1 System Startup

After pre-startup check is completed, close the air switch of input power. At
this moment, the interface displays power off, press ON/OFF to start the
machine. If the difference of indoor and outdoor temperature is greater than the
set point (defaulted to be 4℃) and the indoor temperature is higher than the set
point of refrigeration, the free cooling will be started. If the indoor temperature is
higher than the starting point of air conditioner 1, air conditioner 1 will be started.
If the indoor temperature is higher than the starting point of air conditioner 2, air
conditioner 2 will be started. If the starting conditions for free cooling are met,
the free cooling will be started after startup for 1 minute. If the starting
conditions for air conditioner are met, the air conditioner will be started after
startup for 3 minutes. If the temperature after startup is higher than the
emergency point, the air conditioner will be started immediately.

3.10.2 Energy-saving Mode

The unit will make automatic judgment according to the indoor and outdoor
temperature and humidity so as to determine whether the free cooling system
or external air conditioner is started. Leveled co-operation is available for free
cooling and external air conditioner. The free cooling is Level I refrigeration

Page: 22/36
Shenzhen Envicool Technology Co., Ltd.

while the compressor is Level II refrigeration. Free cooling operation and

external air conditioner operation are available according to the difference of
the temperature and humidity inside and outside the station.
 Free cooling operation: When the temperature outside the base station
is relatively low, the humidity meets the set conditions and the
temperature inside the base station is up to the free cooling starting
point, the free cooling will be started for heat exchange and energy
saving.
 External air condition operation: When the energy efficiency of heat
exchange for free cooling is relatively low (the temperature in the
station keeps increasing) and if the temperature in the station is up to
the starting point of air conditioner, the external air conditioner is
started, and the free cooling is closed.

3.10.3 Heating Mode

This function needs to be equipped with external electric heater. When the
heating demand is greater or equal to 100%, the relevant port output is started
and the signal is closed; when the heating demand is less than or equal to 0%,
the relevant port output is stopped and the signal is stopped.

3.10.4 Co-operate Oil Engine (Optional)

For the place where the oil engine is used, if the co-operation function of
the oil engine is needed, send the signal to start the oil engine before the air
conditioner operates. After the oil engine is started for 3 minutes, the air
conditioner can operate. When the air conditioner is closed, the signal for oil
engine should be removed.

IV. Maintenance

4.1 Checking of Check Sheet

After the electrical and free cooling systems are installed, please check the
following check sheet:
1. Check whether the packing list of free cooling system misses any

Page: 26/36
Shenzhen Envicool Technology Co., Ltd.

accessories;
2. Ensure that there are obvious obstacles nearby air inlet and outlet for
internal and external circulation of the free cooling system;
3. Ensure that the input power cord has been reliably connected;
4. Ensure that the input voltage complies with the nameplate description;
5. Ensure that the fan can be run smoothly without abnormal sound.

4.2 Filter

The filth blockage of filter will directly lower the air inflow of free cooling
system, so filter needs to be maintained on a regular basis. During
maintenance, ensure that all the circuit breakers have been closed;
