CIRCULAR
Sub: Ph.D./M.S./M.Tech. (By Research) Scholar Programme– Extension of
Time – Reg.

Scholars registered at Anna University (including the scholars registered at erstwhile
Anna University of Technology) and completing the maximum period of 6 years for Ph.D.
programme and 4 years for M.S (By Research) as on 30.06.2018 shall send the request for
extension of time (with specific reasons) duly forwarded by respective supervisor to submit
the thesis. The recommendation for extension shall be initially for 1 years. The final six months
extension i.e beyond 7 years shall be granted only if the scholar submit the synopsis.
Research scholars who need extension are requested to register in the link available in
Anna University web site https://cfr.annauniv.edu/scholars/. Check all the details thoroughly and
submit the printout of the same. For any clarifications you may contact the office of Centre for
Research, Anna University, Chennai – 25. For Online/Website specific queries: 044 – 22357360,

Eligible scholars are directed to send the request for extension to the Director, Centre for
Research, Anna University, Chennai on or before 10.05.2018. Otherwise the scholars will not be
permitted to pay the fees for July 2018 session, the registration of such scholars shall be
cancelled without any further notice and no correspondence will be entertained in this
regard.
As per Ph.D. and M.S.(By Research) Regulations Clause 16.1, Extension is not
permissible for those Ph.D. scholars who have completed 71/2 years and M.S.(By Research)
scholars who have completed 5 years as on 30.06.2018.
