My Second Reflection

This is my second reflection on the day two of training ICT in Education. In the
morning, as the opening session, the trainer, Mr. Osman gave us some questions
related to the use of asynchronous online discussion forum and to what extent it is
effective to be implemented in the classroom. Let’s see what the question was and
how I answered them.

THE FIRST is “How can Edmodo be used in class with students or among fellow
teachers?
please comment briefly below:

My Answer: With Edmodo, the assignments of students can be turned in online,

which means no stacks of papers on our desks. It will be a good platform for
distance learning and blended learning of course and we can save papers..

THE SECOND is “When and How can Wikis be used in education? write short
comments below”:

My Answer: Wikis can be used for Project based learning approach which means it
requires students to work collaboratively without having them work face to face.
For instance, when students are given a task of argumentative essay, they can do
research first from wikis then produce a research-based paper and post it to wikis.

THE THIRD is “How can Blogs be used for educational purposes? comment
below:”

My Answer: I elaborate this topic from two perspectives. First is from student's
view. Blog can be use for learners to enhance their ability in writing and organizing
ideas. Through blogs they can give comments each other and do peer-feedback as
blogs is an asynchronous discussion forum.
While from the view of education practitioner, for me, (as what my research is
about and I am still implementing this), can be an effective platform for
professional development or nowadays it is called professional learning, especially
those who like reflect their teachings on reflective teaching journal. Teachers can
do reflection of their teaching on Blog aiming at answering three types of
reflection (reflection in-on-and for action). The other teacher can give feedbacks
and suggestions about their teachings. After all a teacher doing a reflective
practice can gain critical reflection where they are not only contemplating teaching
from what they have done but they also consider about future action to make a
meaningful and purposeful teaching, and that's what so called professional learning.

THE FOURTH is how can Google Docs and Forms can be used at school? write
your comments below

Answer: First we can use google form as a tool for assessment tools like for
quizzes or progress test. Second we also use google form to conduct a survey about
students' interests at the beginning of academic year so that we can know their
preference.
Meanwhile we use google docs to do editing with peers of works and as a tool for
submitting the tasks.

The next agenda is completing the unfinished tasks of the previous meeting. I have
completed the tasks and I just wait for Mr. Osman while some others were still
struggling finishing the blog assignments. He came to the class and introduce new
platforms which are more interactive namely kahoot and quizizz.

If you’ve never heard of Quizizz or Kahoot, they are online quiz platforms that
allow players to use their own devices to answer multiple choice questions. Students
find it engaging because of the flashy animations and the competition it creates
with real time leaderboards. There are many similarities between the two platforms
but each has a slightly different focus: Kahoot is teacher directed, it displays the
questions and answers on the teacher’s device; whereas Quizizz is student directed,
it displays all the information on the student’s device. There are advantages and
disadvantages for each method but I’m finding Quizizz to be the better option. I
will post the tutorial to make kahoot in the next post.

We were also asked to design our new games or evaluation through kahoot or quiziz.
I made kahoot small test and If you want to play, you can click the link below:
