Action Plan to Support Third Culture Kids

I. Begin an ambassadors program for grades 4 and 5 to help support incoming

students. This program will be run by two teachers of different grades and will
consist of training and updates. A student ambassador’s job duties will be to
welcome incoming students through an orientation, giving them a tour of the school
and introducing them to the school culture.
 Beginning:
a. At the end of the school year, students (Grades 3 and 4) will fill out an
application to become a student ambassador. The application process will
include a questionnaire that will require short answers to questions such as
why the student should be chosen and what makes them a good leader.
b. Eight student ambassadors will be chosen by the two teachers in charge of
the program.
c. The Eight students will undergo a couple of afterschool trainings to prepare
them for being a student ambassador. Training will be created and held by
the two program teachers.
 Middle:
a. At the beginning of the year, student ambassadors will be expected to attend
an orientation before the first day of school where they will be paired up
with new students.
b. On this first day, students ambassadors will take their buddies around the
school to give them a tour and begin talking about how the school works.
c. On the first day of school, the student ambassador will meet their buddy by
their classroom and answer any last minute questions.
d. They will continue to be a support throughout the rest of that day.
 End:
a. Student ambassadors do not end their job until the end of the school year.
After the first month, the two teachers will meet with both ambassadors and
new students to see how everything is going.
b. If a new student comes in the middle of the year, a student ambassador will
be chosen to guide them through the process similarly to how they did with
students at the beginning of the year.
c. If possible, student ambassadors will be able to attend Wild Waves (a theme
park) with the leadership team and patrol team. If not, an ice cream party
shall suffice.
II. Provide training to teachers, staff and especially the school counselor to learn how
to best support a new student. This will be offered during the school year and will
have many action plans an steps as to what staff members can do to support.
