ENTRY LEVEL KWL Chart The KWL Chart will be given to the students to assess their prior learning. They will be using it throughout the unit but at this point they will only be filling out the K(Know) part which will require that they write the greetings and farewells they already know. They will then fill the second column where they will write what they will want to know about greetings and farewells. Survey Monkey This survey will be administered to students at the beginning of the unit. In this survey students will demonstrate what they know about greetings and farewells. FORMATIVE ASSESSMENTS Think Pair Share Think Pair Share will have the students engaged and will be assessing the students on what they are learning. Students will think of 3 Greetings/Farewells that can recall from the lecture slides. Then, they will pair up with the students from your right to share their greetings. Partners will be call out to share with the class what they share with each other.
Group Activity Discussion Students will arrange themselves in groups of 4
and practice the different greetings, goodbyes and introductions we went over. Example: A student starts with a greeting “Buenos Dias”, another student reply to the greeting, “Hola, Buenos Dias” Then students move on from that greeting until everyone has a chance to reply at least once. Techer will be monitoring the class by walking around making observations, interacting and making comments on their responses. Guided Notes Students will be filling out Guided notes throughout the lecture. These guided notes help the students to stay focus on the lesson, be engaged an ask question if there is something they didn’t understand. As for teachers, they can go back to the lesson and clarify the section they did not understood. Webercise In this Webercise students used the internet as a learning tool where they learned about a variety of activities they can do to practice greetings and farewells. There are activities such as a recording tool they used to practice pronunciation and answer critical thinking questions that helps them to expand on their understanding of the unit. They also take a Quiz on Quizlet and can use to self- assess their progress and focus on what they need more practice with. SUMMATIVE ASSESSMENTS KWL Chart -At this point students will fill out the last column in the KWL Chart. They will write what they learned about the unit of greetings and farewells in Spanish. Partners Presentation Students decide who is partner A and partner B. Then partner A introduces themselves first and then partner B. Students will be working with a partner on a brief scripted conversation introducing themselves to each other in front of the class using simple greeting/farewells.
Graphic Organizer Dialogue Presentation Students will be able to create a
dialogue/conversation on a given scenario using Spanish greetings/farewells with a partner. Then, they will present their dialogue/conversation to the class.
