Week 1

Day Events/Activities
Monday 1. First day of internship, went to Sri Datai Head Quarter to meet Mr. George Sim.
(17/06/2013) He is the operational director of Sri Datai and my supervisor during the
internship period. Mr. George debriefed me regarding my scope of works for
the three months internship programmes. After the meeting, I was immediately
transferred to 18H site.
2. After reaching the site, I was brought by Mr. George Sim to meet the project
manager, Mr. Jason Sii. Had a talk with him regarding my scope of works inside
the site office. After that, I was led by the site supervisor, Mr. Siverynus to
introduce myself to everyone inside the site office. These people who I had met
are as following:
a. Erniza-Quantity Surveyor
b. Brenda-Junior Quantity Surveyor
c. Niven B. Bahattacharyya – Site Agent
d. Johnson Ting- M&E Engineer
e. Law Eng Hong – M&E Manager
3. Was guided by Mr. Siverynus, I was asked to review the policies of the site office,
ISO of the company and the safety and health policies. He briefed me about the
safety rules and regulations of the site to me.
4. I was brought by Project Manager, Jason to the site. He explained to me about
the project progression on the site and brought me around there. He also
introduced me to Mr. Cheong Vui Leong, the site engineer at the site.
5. Return back to site office, I was given the tasks to study construction,
architectural and m&e drawings.
Tuesday 1. Continue with C&S drawings study and went to site to compare with the
(18/07/2013) drawings
2. Meeting consultant representatives, Mr. Hafiz Ngu, Mr. Sim and Mdm. Kueh.
Had a little conversation with them about the site project.
a. In the conversation, I had learnt about the clerk of work’s job
description. They were the ones who represent the consultant to
monitor the construction progress at the site.
3. Continue studying C&S drawings inside the office for the whole afternoon. Did
some Photostatting and labelling on the drawings.
Wednesday 1. Observe formwork for the slab 3 from the high level. Did some photo capturing
(19/06/2013) at the site.
2. Return back to the site office, went through the company site rules and
regulations, site diaries, photos and the project management handbook.
Thursday 1. Continuing observe formwork progress for the slab 3 from the high level ground.
(20/06/2013) 2. Continuing study site diary and construction drawings.
Friday 1. Witness casting process, in- situ slump test
(21/06/2013) a. Cast area :550m3 (slab 3)
b. Concrete supplier: Quality Concrete (QC)
c. 20lorries been using to supplier the concrete frin tge 10th miles quarry
(landek) plant.
d. It took about 20hours to finish the casting process. 5AM-3AM.
Saturday 1. Observe curing process on the casted slab in the morning. The workers did
(22/06/2013) curing process by using the pipe water to spray water over the slab surface.
2. Went down to the site to observe the curing process.
3. At the site office, helping Ms. Erniza to do labelling for the waterproofing on the
architectural drawings.
4. Meeting Resident Engineer of this project, Mr. Lim, had some conversation
regarding the project. Also, he shared about his career as a Civil Engineer in his
life.
