Generic Interview Preparation Document

The objective of this document is to help achieve the following:

1) To help me be clear on the overall picture I should be painting during the interview through the
preparation of specific languages.

Tell me about yourself, your work history and your skill sets

I have been working in the Medical Device industries for approximately 6 years. For the first 3 years or
so, I had worked on multiple contract positions on products ranging from drapes, gowns, surgical lens
hood to Trauma nails, targeting guides, hip stems, etc basically products of increasing complexities. I
used this period to try to pick up as much hard skill as I can, learning skill sets in Design, Process as well
as Quality aspect of operating within a medical device company. Some examples are improving my CAD
skills in multiple platforms (NX and Solidworks), becoming an expert in GD&T, doing tolerance stacks, Do
a DOE, perform OQ and PQs on some simple process, do Gauge R&Rs, to do Requirement traceability
mjatrix, Risk Managements, to CAPAs, NCRs. Etc etc

During my time at JNJ, I first worked as component engineers, essentially designing individual
components within a larger mechanical systems, essentially responsible for creating models, implement
drawings, communicate with external manufacturer, making tools when necessary, trouble shooting,
DFM discussions, Gauge development, data analysis, etc

My major accomplishment was the creation of a system level model, which I can describe very well.

During this time, I spent a lot of time running FEA on Abaqus, simulating complex system level models,
and learning about Design for Six Sigma Process, running T-stacks at 2D and 3D levels as well as
consolidating a lot of the skill sets

When I joined Amendia, my responsibility was to be the lead design engineer for a De-rotation system,
designing multiple mechanism within the system (Modular connection, De-rotation Rack, and
Attach/deattach quick connect). I was also responsible for designing a vertical grip persuaders, a mono-
axial screws as well as work on the troubleshooting of several cervical plate systems.

I have also managed multiple projects throughout my various roles

Key to this section is to be able to high light the critical technique skills that they should be looking for in
their role. No matter how the questions are asked. The interview preparation should be centered
around finding out what these critical skill sets should be and adjust my thought process accordingly.

What Do you look for long term

I think what I want can be described as two categories

1) Environment – I am really hoping to find an environment where we really have a lot of fun
working together. So what makes work fun?
a. We are all extremely clear on what we need to accomplish as a group together
b. We have a clear but also very flexible and adjustable plan on how we should be
accomplishing our goals
c. Individually, we all have the freedom to input on the overall strategy as well plans
towards accomplishing our goals. This essentially allows the team to always think
together and be on the same page and treat our team goals as individual goals.
d. Lastly, I personally want to work within a team that’s going to achieve an objective that
the overall business cares most about.
2) Technical challenge
a. I want to work on the most convoluted problem there is.
