The Role of *Teiwaz and *Dyeus in Philosophy

Joannes Richter

Abstract
The dual form is an archaic – almost lost – linguistic concept to encourage the usage of the “we
two”-construct instead of the “ego”-construct. The correlation between a personal pronoun of the 1 st
person in dual form *weyt and the sky-god “Dieu” is a concept to discourage egotism.
In English I found the equivalent personal pronoun of the 1st person in dual form “wit” (“we two”),
which in vice-versa reading resembles the “Tue”- or “Tiw”-variant of the PIE-sky-god *Teiwaz,
who is honored by Tuesday (“Tiwesday”).
*Teiwaz had been conceived as the sky-god who represented the dual form as a medium to replace
egotism against cooperative behavior. However the dual form only survived in regions, which had
not been ruled too much by the Roman Empire. In the Netherlands and northern Germany the dual
survived in Frisia. *Teiwaz is the key towards the runic alphabet.
*Dyeus is the antithesis to *Teiwaz and may be seen as the deity who promoted egotism by
carrying and displaying the personal pronoun iéu of the 1st person singular in its corresponding sky-
god's name “Dieu(s)”. Numerous divine names Di*s and their corresponding ego-pronouns have
been documented in The Nuclear Pillars of Symbolism). Therefore *Dyeus is the sky-god for the
Latin alphabet and Romance languages.
*Dyeus
Just the other day I found a missing piece for my giant philosophical jigsaw puzzle. It is a personal
pronoun of the 1st person in dual form *weyt, which in vice-versa reading results in *tyew and
closely resembles the “Dieu”-variant of the PIE-sky-god *Dyeus.
As far as I can see the correlation between a personal pronoun of the 1 st person in dual form *weyt
and the sky-god “Dieu” is a concept to discourage egotism1. The dual form is an archaic – almost
lost – linguistic concept to encourage the usage of the “we two”-construct instead of the “ego”-
construct. The dual form did not survive within the Roman Empire and had been replaced by the
plural “we”, respectively the singular “I”.

*Teiwaz
In Dutch language I had identified the personal pronoun of the 1 st person in dual form “wut” (“we
two”), which in vice-versa reading resembles the “Tuw”-variant of the PIE-sky-god *Teiwaz2.
According to an inscription “Teiwaz” on one of the Negau helmets the Etruscan language may have
been based on “Teiwaz”. The Piacenza Liver contains divine names such as Tius, tivs (or tivr),
which symbolize the moon.
There are symptoms the main Etruscan sky-god Tinia at the Piacenza Liver had been attributed with
an inscription “2. Tin Θuf”, in which the label Θuf relates to ᚠᚢᚦ (fut, vut, wut, fit, vit, wit)
respectively (in a vice-versa mode) ᚦᚢᚠ (tuw, tuv, tuf, tiw, tiv, tif). This reference suggests the
concept for the Germanic runes' alphabet may have been based on the Etruscan language and
religion3.

*Dyeus ↔ *Teiwaz
• *Dyeu(s) is the sky-god, who by mirroring the letters's pattern symbolizes the personal
pronoun of the 1st person in dual form dualis *weyt, which is formed by expanding the
plural “wey”-form by a “t”. The Provencal version “Diéu” of “*Dyeu” however also
contains the personal pronoun iéu of the 1st person singular. Therefore *Dyeu(s) may be
considered as the key to Latin alphabets.
• *Teiwaz is the sky-god, who represents Tuw, Tiw, resp. Tiwus, Tius. In analogy to *Dyeu(s)
this name also allows us to read the personal pronoun “wut” of the 1st person in dual form
dualis in vice-versa mode, which in runes is written as ᚠᚢᚦ (fut, vut, wut, fit, vit, wit). ᚠᚢᚦ
is the only three-letter word, which had been listed at the beginning of all runic alphabets.
Therefore *Teiwaz may be considered as the key to runic alphabets. Maybe ᚠᚢᚦ also
symbolizes “Vut” (“Wotan”) and in vice-versa reading “Tuw” (respectively tuv, tuf, tiw, tiv,
tif,...).

Numerous divine names Di*s and their corresponding ego-pronouns have
been documented in The Nuclear Pillars of Symbolism. Therefore *Dyeus is the sky-god for the
Latin alphabet and Romance languages.

The names of the days of the weeks

Three days of the week have been devoted to *Teiwaz, *Dyeus and Woden. Two of these deities are
PIE-gods, but Wotan is a genuine Germanic god.
*Teiwaz (Tiw, Tig and Ziu, Tiu, Tiuz) is related to Ζεύς πατήρ (Zeus patér) is honored by devoting
Tuesday to Teiwaz, the planet and the personal pronoun of the 1 st person dual *weyt, and their
derivatives “wut”, “wit”....
*Dyeus is honored by devoting Thursday to *Dyeus, the planet Jupiter, and the personal pronoun of
the 1st person singular “jeu”, “jau”, “iou” and their Romance derivatives ja, io, je, yo, .... Some of
these deities still carry their letter “D” in their pronouns such as in the Savoyard dialects 4. The
Savoyard dialect is a mystery because it uses so many ego-pronouns beginning with “D” and “Z”.
An abundance of consonants in neighboring European areas had not been found before.
Wotan however cannot be categorized as a PIE-sky-god. Generally his name is derived from the
root *weh₂t-[1] (excited, inspired ; possessed, raging), but based on this paper another root *weyt
seems to be the primary attribute for Wotan.
These roots are ᚦᚢᚠ (Thuw), ᚠᚢᚦ (Futh) and ᚦur (Thur) for *Teiwaz, Woden and *Dyeus are found
within the first five characters of the Futhar(k)/Futhor(c)-alphabet.
