CHAPTER 1
CONTENT
Introduction To Human
Computer Interaction WHAT • COMPONENT • RELARTED FIELD • GOALS
Component = Human – Interaction - Computer
It’s about interaction between people and computers OR more specific is dialogue
between you and computer.
RELATED FIELD Then you should concern about design, evaluation and implementation of interactive
computing system for human use.
-Human-center computing, Goals = To improve interaction between user’s and computer by making it more user
-User-centered design friendly and receptive to the user’s need.
-Universal usability.

INTERACTION DESIGN • GOALS • PROCESS • USABILITY GOALS

Designing interactive products to support people communication and interact in their
everyday and working lives.
Goals = involve users in the design process.
PROPER DESIGN Process = Establishing requirement (know target use), Designing Alternatives (what
IS NEEDED people can do and how interact), Prototyping (way for designers to explore design idea.),
Evaluation (Determining the usability and acceptability of the design that based on
several criteria).
Physical interaction =
Usability Goals = Safe (protect from dangerous), effective (doing supposed to do), easy
system input.
to use, having good utility, easy to learn.
Perceptual interaction =
System output.
Conceptual interaction = USER NEEDS • EXPERIENCE • DESIGN PRINCIPLE
Know the system works & User Need = Understand and provide what’s user need.
what we should do? Experience = How to product behaves and is used by people. *Desirable Aspects =
Satisfied, Helpful, Enjoy, Fun.
*Undesirable Aspect = Boring
Design Principle = Visibility (User know what to do), Feedback (What happen after
process done), Constraints (Prevent user do wrong), Consistency (Similar operation),
Affordance (giving clue).
