Mid-Year Updates 2018

Dear Partners,

Bob Pierce once wrote, “Let my heart be broken with the things that break the heart of
God.” It is my belief that, a true and Kingdom focused child of God ought to be broken by
what breaks the heart of God. Permit me to share the quote, I shared with LDI’s Board
members a few months ago:

James A. Harnish described Holy Discontent as follows, “A spiritual passion is a God-

given determination to make a difference in the world in a specific are of brokenness …
A spiritual passion is a relentless longing for justice – prophetic calling to make wrong
things right. It’s the kind of Spirit-implanted passion that caused some of the most well
known biblical figures to take action because they were moved by the needs of the
people around them ... You may think that your calling would never equal these, but God
has an odd way to calling people who do not think they are worthy. God calls us in the
context of our experience to become a part of something bigger than we could ever
imagine … When we see a need that cries out to be addressed, the spirit of God sparks
a fire in our bones and we declare, ‘I can stands it no more’ and then do something
about it! It is a ‘divine discontent’ that begins with our hunger for God and results in a
desire to meet the needs of others.”

Friends, the above really resonates with me and gave me a clue of LDI’s current ministry
engagement. For a couple of years I’ve had a feeling of God directing me into something
bigger than me. I shared this thought with my leadership and close friends.

Of course, with prayers and godly counsel we see God directing LDI to engage and
address the issue of ministry governance, LDI’s engagement within a short space of time
and the outcome experienced has been so amazing and it has been an exciting journey.

The effect of a lack of or of good ministry governance is so disturbing today and is

causing serious relationship problems amongst Kingdom partners (Churches, para-
church organizations and their sponsors). The issues of ministry governance is not new,
it is as old as creation (Gen 2: 15 – 18):

“Justice without strength is helpless, strength without justice is tyrannical. Unable to

make what is just strong, we have made what is strong, just” Pascal, Pensees (1670). “It
is not enough to make policies, structures and systems, unless the mind that makes the
policies, structures and systems changes”: paraphrased by Siaka Charles (2006).

Therefore, it is with the spirit of humility and excitement that I share with you how God
has been using LDI to engage and address Godly/Biblical ministry governance issues
from a Biblical perspective.

We are seeing God use LDI as a movement that’s changing the mind set of
Church/ministry and Para-church organizations leadership enabling them to
