Part II: Reflection

CANDIDATE REFLECTIONS:
(Minimum of 3-4 sentences per question)

1. Briefly describe the field experience. What did you learn about technology facilitation and
leadership from completing this field experience?

For this learning experience, I created an engaged learning project in which students will have the
opportunity to discuss weather and climate with students from another country. I really enjoyed
creating this project because weather and climate are topics that are very different for the students.
I believe this project is going to help them understand the real life applications of science
concepts.
One of the best parts about creating this project was the feedback that I received from my
professor and classmates. The feedback they provided offered a different perspective, and it
helped me improve my final project. I was also inspired by my classmates’ projects, and this has
increased my desire to learn and implement project based learning.

2. How did this learning relate to the knowledge (what must you know), skills (what must you
be able to do) and dispositions (attitudes, beliefs, enthusiasm) required of a technology
facilitator or technology leader? (Refer to the standards you selected in Part I. Use the
language of the PSC standards in your answer and reflect on all 3—knowledge, skills, and
dispositions.)
In order to create this project, I had to put into practice my knowledge of technology and of the
science standards. The activities I decided to include in this project were chosen for their depth of
knowledge. I wanted to make sure the students were challenged and engaged throughout this
project. I also had to make sure the technology resources available were going to be adequate for
the implementation of the project. For this project, I also had to plan alternative activities (paper
and pencil activities included in my final project) to reinforce the concepts of weather and climate
in case troubleshooting or connectivity issues arrived. The layout of this project calls for the
teacher to become a facilitator of learning which will allow the students the opportunity to be
accountable for their learning.

3. Describe how this field experience impacted school improvement, faculty development or
student learning at your school. How can the impact be assessed?

I believe this project will help students engage into rigorous tasks that will require the use of
higher order thinking skills. I also believe they will enjoy communicating with students from other
countries. This communication with other students not only will help them make connections as
learners, but also as human beings. Students need to learn how to collaborate with others to reach
a common goal, and I think this project will help them learn that!
