Greetings of peace and good health!

As part of the university’s mission to nurture the spirit of nationhood through innovative
education and community partnership, the College of Teacher Education will render a comprehensive
extension service program called Mulat sa Aklat Project. This project aims to promote children’s
emergent literacy and reading skills through empowering parents especially mothers to help their
children become successful readers.

Mulat sa Aklat project values the importance of parental involvement in the education of
children. It seeks to develop children’s literacy through book reading and storytelling by equipping
parents with effective tutoring skills in teaching their children to read in Filipino.
This project includes seminar/training for parents on obtaining tutoring strategies in basic reading and
will be conducted on the following dates which may be also subjected to changes depending on the
convenience of the participants

November 18- Parents’ Orientation

November 23- Parents’ Workshop on Claveria Approach
4 Ps on the Go: Proper Nutrition and Personal Hygiene Project for Pupils
December 2 and 3- Parents’ Workshop on Marungko Approach
December 9 and 10- Reading and Storytelling with children
December 15- Storytelling and Gift giving

In this regard, your permission is humbly solicited for the College of Teacher Education to be
allowed to conduct the said extension program in your school. We would also like to request for your
help in identifying the 25 housewives parents of kindergarten children as beneficiaries of this project.
