HISTORY

1. AMSA INTERNATIONA L

The Asian Medical Students’ Association (AMSA) International is a peak representative


organisation for medical students from across Asia, the Asia-Pacific and beyond. Training doctors
from 12 Member Nations and 4 Associate/Observer Nations combine to share knowledge,
undertake activities and social services and create international and trans-continental friendships.
AMSA was officially founded in Manila, Philippines in 1985 and from this day has been an active,
dynamic and exciting student-led, not-for-profit, non-political organisation. Today, with members
and friends spanning the globe AMSA has an active student-exchange program, regularly
undertakes national and regional projects, provides humanitarian assistance at times of need,
produces quarterly student publications and liaises with the World Health Organisation, the
Association of Medical Doctors of Asia and many other international and regional medical student
organisations.

Since it was first established in 1979 and the first conference was held in Mahidol University of
Thailand the Asian Medical Students’ Conferences have been a key focus for the organisation.
Now held biannually in January/February and July/August these events see over 700 students from
across the world combine to learn from each other, teach their fellow peers and develop lasting
friendships.

The AMSA Vision is Knowledge, Action and Friendship. Three areas we continuously strive to
further in our members and peers through our organisational missions:
 Knowledge: We promote scientific and medical activities to increase and expand our
knowledge whilst training to become the medical professionals of the future
 Action: As medical students, we are concerned for the community around us and endeavor to
do things for the benefit and improvement of our fellow citizens
 Friendship: As future doctors, we aim to build and maintain a good relationship among our
colleagues of the Asia-Pacific and beyond

2. AMSA INDONESIA

Asian Medical Students’ Association Indonesia (AMSA-Indonesia) is the peak representative


body for medical students in Indonesia. Founded in Yogyakarta, August 10th 1996, AMSA-
Indonesia has been actively participating in plethora of national and international events. Its
contributions to AMSA International as the root of the organization are succinct, having hosted
four Asian Medical Students’ Conference (AMSC) in 1990, 1996, 2003, 2010 and one East Asian
Medical Students’ Conference (EAMSC) in 2006.

PHILOSOPHY

 Knowledge. We promote scientific activity to increase and expand our knowledge to become
qualified medical professionals in the future.
 Action. As medical students, we are concerned to the community around us and try to do
something for the benefit and improvement of our community.
 Friendship. As future doctors, we’re trying to build and maintain a good relationship among
our counterparts around Asia-Oceania.

3. AMSA UNTAD (UNIVE RSITAS TADULAKO)

AMSA UNTAD was founded in the faculty of mathematics and natural sciences of Tadulako
University, On the 29th of August, 2010.

The establishment of AMSA UNTAD initiated by Lucky Sarjono B., S.Ked (class of 2009). The
first Representative was Rangga Duo Ramadhan (class of 2009). AMSA UNTAD stands on three
philosophies:
1. KNOWLEDGE
2. FRIENDSHIP
3. ACTION

Since then, AMSA UNTAD has shown a very rapid movement. AMSA UNTAD is actively
sending delegates to the national event held by AMSA INDONESIA and even by AMSA
INTERNATIONAL. and finally get the results according to awarded as the most progressive
university by AMSA INDONESIA in 2014.
