INTRODUCTION

Modal verbs in the passive voice have great importance in communication, as these
denote in a sentence affirmative, negative or question: probability, possibility,
conditionality, obligation, permission, will, persistence and skill.

The structure of a sentence in passive voice is:

Object + main verb + subject.

But using the passive voice with modal verb is added and then the verb "be" as shown in
the following formula:

Subject +modals +be +main verb +object.

THE PASSIVE VOICE WITH MODALS

Active Voice, Passive Voice.


1. Active voice.
The active voice is the "normal" voice. This is the voice that we use
most of the time. You are probably already familiar with the active
voice. In the active voice, the object receives the action of the verb:

2. Passive voice.
The passive voice is less usual. In the passive voice,
the subject receives the action of the verb:

MODALS VERBS

Modals verbs are a class of auxiliary verbs.

Modal verbs are also called modal auxiliaries or simply modals. Manners
express the mode of a verb: the ability, possibility, the need or another
condition of the main verb.

These verbs are used with main verbs to form statements or questions.

Modals have not conjugation and no time and cannot be used without a
main verb.

There are ten English modals verbs:

CAN / COULD / MAY / MIGHT / MUST / SHALL / SHOULD / OUGHT
