Chapter 1

INTRODUCTION

Electricity is one of the technological

innovations of mankind and it is needed in powering

most of the devices found in our home. Due to the

largest population, the limited resources continuous

to depletes thus alternative resources are needed to

reduce these risks. One possible energy source is

wind which is non-polluting, renewable, and can be

able to generate power with the used of wind

turbines. Unlike fossil fuels, wind energy is an

infinite source of energy (Ecotech Institute, 2007)

and can create an unlimited energy to the wind

turbines. Because of this process the wind turbines

can also generate an unlimited power and most energy

will be disgarded if not in use. With the use of

storage devices the energy can be used efficiently

and maybe use in future.

Global warming is one of the problems the world is

currently facing and wind turbines can be use to minimize

global warming habits and efficiently make use of the

limited resources. Installations of wind turbines produces

no greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide (Co2) or

methane (CH4) which are both known to contribute towards

global warming (Bratley, 2013). Moreover, the use of wind

energy does not need to deal with radioactive substitutes

or face possible dangers of radioactive exposure and

leakage (HelpSaveNature, 2018).

With the use of energy battery system, the

power produce by wind turbines can be conserve

efficiently. Likewise, energy storage system has no

emissions and can be placed anywhere in a facility

with no immediate environmental or air quality

impacts (Lin, 2016). The basic idea here and in

other storage technology is to transfer excess

energy off the grid to a medium where it can be

stored so that you can transfer it back when needed

(Puretta, 2014).

Statement of the Problem

This study aims to determine the amount of voltage

generated by the wind turbines. Specifically, this study

will answer the following questions:

1. Does the amount of generated power changes in the

amount of voltage of wind speed? In the number

of blades?

2. Is there a significance difference in the amount

of voltage generated by the wind turbine under:

a.) wind speed ; b.) number of blades?

Hypothesis

This study will sought to determine if there is a

significant different in the amount of voltage generated

under wind speed and number of blades?

Theoretical Background and Related Studies

The law of conservation of energy is a law of science

that states, energy cannot be created or destroyed, but

only changed from one form into another or transferred

from one object or another.

Wind turbines is a mechanical which converts wind

energy to generate electricity. Wind power converts the

kinetic energy in the wind to generate electricity or

mechanical power. This is done by using a large turbine

(wind turbine) usually containing propellers; the turbine

can be connected to a generator to generate electricity.

Although a wind-energy system’s final objective is to

generate energy it is more convenient to describe its size

in terms of power. The relationship between power and

energy is a simple one-energy is power multiplied by time.

This is why power is defined a watts and energy in watt-

hours.
Wind power is an alternative clean energy source and can

be relied on for the long-term future instead of the

conventional fossil fuel energy. Wind turbine is a way of

producing cost effective, pollution free energy. A singe

household can be run on the energy generated from a wind

turbine. Because wind is a source of energy which non-

polluting and renewable, wind turbines create power

without using fossils, fuels, without producing greenhouse

gases or radioactive or toxic waste, and may reduces

global warming.
