SPECIFIC COURSE INFORMATION

a. Course Description
The course introduces the students with the design and analysis of digital circuits. Focus is on combinati
(synchronous and asynchronous) logic circuits with emphasis on solving digital problems using hardw
structures of the complexity of medium and large-scale integration. Students are expected to design combinati
circuits.
b. Prerequisites NONE
Co-requisites ECE 002 Electronic Circuits Analysis and Design
c. Course Classification
(Required/elective/ Required
selected elective)
SPECIFIC GOALS FOR THE COURSE
a. Course Objective
The course aims to provide students with the knowledge on how digital circuit of large complexity can be built
methodological way, starting from Boolean logic and applying a set of rigorous techniques.
b. Course Outcomes
By the end of the course, the students will be able to:

1.Validate design logic circuits using simulation tool. (SO e)

2.Design combinational and sequential logic circuits applying Boolean algebra and k-map as tool to simp
logic expressions. (SO b, d, e)
3.Develop combinational and sequential logic circuits meet the required functionality. (SO b, d, e, i)
4.Design a system that will integrate the three major components of a computer system. (SO d)

c. Student Outcomes Addressed by the Course

Students will be able to:

b. Identify, formulate and solve complex engineering problems.

d. Design and conduct experiments, as well as to analyze, and interpret data, and synthesize informatio
provide valid conclusions for investigating complex problems.
e. Use techniques, skills, and modern engineering tools necessary for engineering practice in com
engineering activities.
i. function effectively as an individual, and as a member or leader in diverse teams and in multidisciplin
settings
