Hobbies & Interests

I have a keen interest in animals which although was present since I was a young child having owned
multiple pets and been around family dogs and horses, the idea to pursue a career in the Animal
Industry, was mainly triggered by my dog. I have an orange roan, show strain, English Cocker Spaniel
bitch, I have participated in Ringcraft, Obedience and Agility training with her. I have also exhibited
her at multiple fun, open and champ shows around the South of England, where we have achieved
a variety of results. Whilst attending training classes with her I also had the opportunity to handle
multiple other dogs in the ring, on the table and during other events, allowing me to further my
dog handling abilities. I also enjoy walking my dog and exploring new places, I also further my
knowledge of dogs by reading books and journals around canine subjects which interest me such
as anatomy and genetics.

Since starting university I have also become a member of the rugby team and have played in every
match for the past two years as either number 5 or 8. Being a member of a team with a range of
strong individuals has provided great support and enriched my learning and life in general. I have
also watched and attended rugby matches outside of the university environment.

I founded and am the current president of the Writtle University College Student Union LGBTQIA+
Society. I will be going into it’s third year as president having just being elected to maintain my
position. The society is primarily social although has dealt with a few serious issues on campus with
full support from the appropriate staff. We also spread awareness and provide a safe place where
all are represented.

Additionally, I volunteer with YoungMinds, an organisation which promotes the mental health and
wellbeing of young people under 25. It is an area that I am passionate about having had both
personal and close experiences with. I have also had the opportunity to write a blog piece which
focused on mental health within the LGBTQ+ community, tying two of my passions together.

I am also an avid crafter; I primarily crochet and sew. I also enjoy playing Pokémon with my partner,
dog and friends in the community.
