HPCL Hassan Terminal Under CSR

Water is one of the valuable gifts given by nature and it is very important for the
human survival. Today water has become a critical resource and created the
uncertainty about our future. There are very few resources of water available for
the use, hence creating the necessity of saving water.

Rising to the occasion and following the motto of “ Jalo Rakshati Rakhsitaha” and
“Swachhata”, with the guidance and support of District Administration-Hassan, HPCL
extended support to develop Gavenahalli Pond at Hassan Taluk for collecting and
harvesting of Rain water which can be used for charging of ground, agricultural and
other purposes.

The reservoir has been handed over to District authorities on 28.03.18, by conducting
an inaugural function that was graced by Smt. K. M Janaki IAS CEO, Zilla Panchayat
Hassan, Dr H. L Nagaraj KAS Asst. Commissioner, Hassan and other dignitaries from
district administration and other Industry members. The reservoir was developed in a
land area of 4 acres with a capacity of 86 lakh gallons (32400 KL). The dimension of
the pond is 270m X 60m X 2m. The total cost of the project was 34.7 lacs.

The inaugural function was conducted in a grand manner, involving approximately 300
people from surrounding villages, started the event with a Kannada song on
harvesting of natural resources. The dignitaries then watered the plant on stage
symbolizing the need to save the environment. Shri D. Rama Rao, DGM-Installation
addressed the gathering and shared various CSR initiatives by HPCL and also
explained about the project. During the speeches District administration is highly
appreciative of unique initiative by HPCL and advised all other members to take HPCL
as a role model and carry out similar activities.

The project was made successful with the support and guidance of SCZ, CSR and
ProjectTeam. Excellent team work by Hassan under the leadership of Shri D. Rama
Rao.
