LESSON OUTLINE
I. INTRODUCTION │MOTIVATION (Performance Standards)

The students will answer the following questions through a group discussion:

1. When you describe someone as “Pilosopo” what do you mean?


How do you feel when someone calls you “Pilosopo”? Why do you feel that way?

II. INSTRUCTION │DELIVERY (Highest enabling strategy to use in developing the highest thinking
skills to asses.)

Analysis:
Analyze the meaning of Pilosopo based on the experiences shared. Do you agree with the meanings
associated with the word pilosopo?

Abstraction:
 Thales and Socrates
 The portrayal of Socrates and other philosophers by Aristophanes.
 Filipino context of a “Pilosopo.”
 Meaning of “the love of wisdom” through the experience of Socrates.
 Reading an excerpt from Plato’s Apology
 Analysis of the excerpt
 Characteristics of a true Philosopher according to Socrates
 Pilosopo as Philosopher

III. PRACTICE (Highest thinking skills to asses)


The questions will be presented to the students:

1. 1. Recall the character of Pilosopo Tasyo in Noli Me Tangere. Answer the question: Is Pilosopo Tasyo a
philosopher? Why or why not?

task)
The questions will be presented to the students:
1. How do people describe a philosopher during the ancient times and modern times?
2. How does Aristophanes portray Socrates and all other Philosophers?
According to the excerpt from Plato’s Apology
V. EVALUATION (Highest thinking skill to asses; culminating performance standards; performance
task)
The students will answer the question:
1. Describe the characteristics of a true Pilosopo or Philosopher based on what we have discussed,
compared to what you have described earlier.
VI. ASSIGNMENT/ HOMEWORK

In a ¼ sheet of paper, the students will be enumerating the different branches of Philosophy.
