The National Road Network estimated by the studies carried


out by the Albanian Road Authority is 3,848 km of national
roads. All roads leading network and about 2/3 of the tota
ength of the secondary network are paved roads. About 48

e Albanian Railway consisting of 447-km main rail line and 230 km secondary r
e. It is extended from Durres port in four directions: in north in border Alban
ontenegro, in south in railway station of Ballsh, in east in railway station ne

e Railways in Albania are administered by the national railw


ompany (Hekurudha Shqiptare-HSH). HSH On 22nd of December 2016 the Parliame
the Republic of Albania approved the Law nr. 142/2016 "The Railway Code
e Republic of Albania". It shall be in force within one year after its publication, i
January 2018.

egarding the railway infrastructure, the Paris High Level Summit, held on 4 Ju J
016 produced concrete results for Albania. The rehabilitation/construction of t
ilway Tirana – Rinasi – Durrësi, in a total of 91.5 Million EUR, was one of t
ojects selected to be supported from the EU and the EBRD. This decisi
flected the fulfillment of Vienna Summit obligations, especially the soft measu
plementation and the existence of the strategic documents in the field
ansport. The implementation procedures are recently in process.

e rehabilitation of the railway infrastructure sector is intended, initially throu


me internal measures, aiming to increase the transport volumes, mainly from t
ort of Durrësi railway connection. Albania aims to improve the railway links with
eighbors and it is closely working with the Montenegrin counter partners in ord

UR and it is expected to start.

most all ports of Albania to improve and expand their infrastructure, superstructure a

rgeting the orientation of the ports towards market economy.
