Following on the success of the Universal Target Control Station (UTCS) 1100-3100 series, there is
now a portable series of laptop-based UTCS target ground control systems available.
The UTCS 100 series is a family of state-of-the-art hardened laptops that offer the user greater
deployment flexibility without impacting operational performance. The system is self-contained and
provides complete and independent target tracking and control functions for multiple land, sea, and
air target vehicles. In fact, the UTCS is the only system in the world with a proven track record
extending over 30 years.
The UTCS 100 is the lowest cost option that includes a hardened MOTS laptop and a Direct
Connect Module consisting of a data-link and GPS.
The UTCS 101A provides the same capability as the UTCS 100 but also includes an Antenna
Control Module (ACM) that permits a growth path for greater capability and redundancy.
The UTCS 101B includes a dual data-link capability that provides increased redundancy for multi-
target operations.
The UTCS is centered on a LINUX workstation that generates the graphical user interface (GUI)
viewed on a large-screen display LCD. The GUI incorporates target control panels, an electronic
map, and target health monitoring features. The UTCS generates and transmits the command and
control data used to control the target while monitoring, displaying, and recording the status of the
data returned from a single or multiple targets. The UTCS employs a half-duplex data-link that has
a proven capability to allow for simultaneous control of 16 targets on a single frequency.
The major components, designed as modules, are installed in sturdy enclosures, and are connected
by custom made cable assemblies through which power and data communications are transferred.
