Challenges
Students in high school do not attend mass.
They often “skip” when they know what
period a mass is taking place.
Having students sit still, focus their attention
and show respect.
Students don’t know how to participate and
respond in a school mass.

Students not baptized or have not received
their first communion sometimes try and
take one.
Solutions
Remind students that the homily can be very
relevant to them, and especially in a school
environment it may be especially geared
towards them. Tell the students that they
may be missing out on something that could
help them with whatever struggle they have.
Volunteer your class to organize and run the
mass.
In your classroom, have discussions with the
students and practice responses. Remind
them of the importance of participating and
being with God fully during the time of
prayer.
Practice appropriate behavior in class and
remind students that is a time for reflection
not conversation.
Remind students that the Eucharist is very
special and Holy. They should not be taking
one if they have not properly received their
First Communion, however they can still
receive a blessing from the priest.
