Oktoberfest is a 16-18 day festival held each year in Munich, Bavaria, Germany, running
from late September to the first weekend in October. It is one of the most famous events in
Germany and the world's largest fair, with more than 5 million people attending every year.
The Oktoberfest is an important part of Bavarian culture. Other cities across the world also
hold Oktoberfest celebrations, modelled after the Munich event.
2. New Orleans Mardi Gras LOUISIANA. Day before Ash Wednesday (the first day of
Lent)
"Mardi Gras (Fat Tuesday in English) in New Orleans, Louisiana, is a Carnival celebration
well-known throughout the world. The New Orleans Carnival season, with roots in

many genres of music including alternative rock, hip hop, and electronic music as well as
large sculptural art."
London Fashion Week is an apparel trade show held in London, England twice each year,
in February and September. It is one of the "Big Four" fashion weeks, along with New York
Fashion Week, Milan Fashion Week and Paris Fashion Week.
"The Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta is a yearly festival of hot air balloons that
takes place in Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA during early October. The balloon fiesta is
a nine day event, and has around 750 balloons. The event is the largest hot air balloon
festival in the world."

For instance, “wedding cake” can be translated as la torta de bodas or el pastel de bodas
depending on where you are; as does “ring-bearer” which can be el paje, el pajecito
(especially if it’s a young boy), or el padrino de arras / el padrino del anillo.
