I know other people will talk about other inventions that are the most innovative of all

time, so let's assume there are parallel universes, so everyone can take that position.
And what is this invention? I don’t know you but the words auto-mechanics make me
curious. When I say auto-mechanics I'm referring to the mechanical parts of a car,
for example. So let's describe what are the components of a car.
It basically has wheels, seats, fuzzy dice, a body. This makes up a car, but only with
that it will not move, it will only get out of place if you are willing to get out pushing
the car.
Let's open then. This is the fundamental part of the functioning of this machine.
Do not worry, I will not talk about thermodynamics or mathematics, nor about how to
build an engine. And what exactly is that?
An internal combustion engine (ICE) is a heat engine where the combustion of a fuel
occurs with an oxidizer (usually air) in a combustion chamber that is an integral part
of the working fluid flow circuit. In an internal combustion engine, the expansion of
the high-temperature and high-pressure gases produced by combustion applies
direct force to some component of the engine. The force is applied typically to
pistons, turbine blades, rotor or a nozzle. This force moves the component over a
distance, transforming chemical energy into useful mechanical energy.
In other words. Think of the internal combustion engine as a box that has two inlet
and two outlet holes, and in that box you put a fuel together with oxygen, and then
throw a little fire into that box. And what happens? Exactly this, combustion. But this
is important because we are converting the chemical energy contained in the
molecules into a form of energy that allows us to move a car and walk around
Fortaleza.
The Industrial Revolution was the transition to new manufacturing processes in the
period from about 1760 to sometime between 1820 and 1840. This transition included
going from hand production methods to machines, new chemical manufacturing and
iron production processes, the increasing use of steam power, the development of
machine tools and the rise of the factory system.
The Industrial Revolution marks a major turning point in history; almost every aspect
of daily life was influenced in some way. In particular, average income and population
began to exhibit unprecedented sustained growth. Some economists say that the
major impact of the Industrial Revolution was that the standard of living for the
general population began to increase consistently for the first time in history, although
others have said that it did not begin to meaningfully improve until the late 19th and
20th centuries.
And this image represents this period well. Because before the internal combustion
we had steam engines.
A steam engine is a heat engine that performs mechanical work using steam as its
working fluid. In simple terms, the steam engine uses the expansion principle of
chemistry, where heat applied to water transforms the water to steam. and then
pushes a piston (cylinder). This pushing force is typically transformed, by way of a
connecting rod and flywheel, into rotational force for work. Steam engines are
external combustion engines, where the working fluid is separated from the
combustion products.
Here we have the steam powered machines, but who was responsible for the
creation of the internal combustion engine? The current engine can be attributed to
Otto, but before it there were other attempts to create a model that worked under
these conditions.
Otto was a German engineer who successfully developed the compressed charge
internal combustion engine which ran on petroleum gas and led to the modern
internal combustion engine.
By 1800 there were already steam-powered buses circling the streets of Paris. These
charcoal-burning vehicles were heavy, noisy, and stinking - so much so that they
were banned in England, where trains were already the main means of
transportation. The automobile as we know it called for a new technological leap that
would come with the invention from the engine to the explosion and the discovery
that oil could be used as fuel, which occurred after 1850.
Thanks to the internal combustion engine we can move daily and carry things, people
and anything we want. And that's why MCI is important in my life, and I also like
thermodynamics and thermal machines.
Combustion, also known as burning, is the basic chemical process of releasing
energy from a fuel and air mixture. In an internal combustion engine (ICE), the
ignition and combustion of the fuel occur within the engine itself. There are two kinds
of internal combustion engines currently in production: the spark ignition gasoline
engine and the compression ignition diesel engine. A complete engine cycle for a 4
stroke ICE has the following phases (strokes): intake, compression, power
(expansion) and exhaust.
