ABSTRACT

The project was called Centralized Printing System (CPS). The study focused on its

operation, system requirements and specifications, and informative feasibility studies. The

mechanism made, however, was only functional within the College of Information and Computer

Science (CICS) in the University of Cebu – Main Campus.

Basically, the CPS has a software and hardware package that prints all the credentials in a

computer printing network environment. The printing system worked out with the connection of

the clients to communicate through a Local-Area Network (LAN). The link is then connected to

a server, which administers all the queued documents. The CPS has its own outlet or area where

the printing jobs are to be completed. It accepts documents uploaded by the client through .

CPS application and programs are installed in all computer units. Such software

specifications include the Operating System (OS) and Database Management Application. The

server used Unix-based OS while the clients made use of the same Windows-based OS. Major

hardware requirements include printer and a typical computer network environment. Using the

recent data and knowledge about the CPS, it was found out that this mechanism truly helps

improve the current printing system of the UC-CICS.

In the first chapter we discuss the rationale of our study and how did we come up with

this kind of system. We justify every objective on how we will attain improvement to the current

system. We come up with necessary restrictions to limit the system usage and so that the system

may work accordingly. We identify the significance of this study on how it will affect the people

that surrounds the system.
