Requirement
The requirements for doctoral students is finishing the course-work requirement—at least 30 credits,
including 4 credits of Independent Study, 3 credits of education foundational courses, 4 credits of educational
research methods and instruments and 12 credits of Major’s Elective Courses. The rest credits are for optional
courses depending on your own interests; the students are also allowed to get the credits of optional courses from the
other departments’ or universities’ by following the regulation of National Chiayi University. Moreover, besides the
above requirements, students have to complete Dissertation which counted as 6 credits. Hence, the total credit
requirements of graduation are 36 credits.

II. Others
1. All the students have to participate in all the activities held by the department, including conferences,
symposium and academic lectures. These activities are not counted as any credits, but are one of the
requirements to finish their graduate program.

school and the demanding of students.
3. Students who are not graduated from education-related departments are required to take at least two
courses on education foundational theories, such as “Educational Psychology,” “Sociology of
Education,” “Introduction to Education,” or “Philosophy of Education.”
