1. Hardware Installation
System Requirements
Before installation, please check the following requirements with
your equipment.
! 166 MHz Pentium or above (200 MHz Pentium Processor
recommended)
! 16MB RAM or more
! One available PCI slot and CD-ROM Drive
! Windows 95 / 98 / Me/ NT 4.0 / 2000
Installing the Card
1. With the power to your PC disconnected, remove the PC's
casing.
2. Press the modem card firmly into the PCI slot, and secure it
with screws to your PC.
3. Reinstall the casing on your PC.
Connecting Your Modem
Plug one end of the phone cord into LINE jack and the other end
to the analog phone jack.
The figure below illustrates the typical connection of internal
modem card.
2. Driver Installation
Once the hardware installation is finished, you will need to install
it’s drivers. The process will vary depending on your operating
system.
Driver Installation For Windows 95
1. Start Windows 95. Update Device Driver Wizard window
appears. Insert the provided CD into your CD-ROM drive and
click Next, then Other Locations.
2. Click Browse to specify the location of the driver:
D:\Driver\Win9x (D: represents your CD-ROM drive letter)
and click OK.
3. Windows will find the driver for the device; click Finish.
4. When prompted to insert disk, click OK. Again, click Browse
to specify the location of the driver: D:\Driver\Win9x (D:

where the modem is to be used and then click OK.
Driver Installation For Windows 98
1. Start Windows 98. Add New Hardware Wizard window
appears. Click Next.
2. Select Search for the best driver for your device and click
Next.

Specify a location and click Browse to specify the location of
the driver: D:\Driver\Win9x (D: represents your CD-ROM
drive letter). Click Next.
4. Windows will find the driver file for the device. Click Next.
5. Click Finish.
6. When New Hardware Found message appears, wait for
Windows completing the installation.
7. If Modem Country Select window appears, select the country
where the modem is to be used and then click OK.
Driver Installation For Windows Me
1. Your computer detects new hardware and displays the Add
New Hardware Wizard window. Select the Specify the
location of the driver option and click Next.
2. Insert the provided CD into your CD-ROM drive. Select
Search for the best driver for your device and then check
only the Specify a location box. Click Browse to specify the
location of the driver: D:\Driver\WinME (D: represents your
CD-ROM drive letter) and click Next.
3. Windows will find the driver file for the device. Click Next.
4. Click Finish.
5. When New Hardware Found message appears, wait for
Windows completing the installation.
Driver Installation For Windows NT
1. Insert the provided CD into your CD-ROM drive. Click Start
menu and then click Run to open the Run dialog box. Type
D:\Driver\NT40\setup.exe (D: represents your CD-ROM
drive letter) in the box and click OK.
2. When Modem Board Installation Wizard appears, click
Next to begin installing. Click Next to install the driver of
Conexant HCF PCI Modem.
3. When Modem Country Select window appears, select the
country where the modem is to be used and click OK.
4. When installation is complete, click Finish.
Driver Installation For Windows 2000
1. Your computer detects new hardware and displays the Found
New Hardware Wizard window. Click Next.
2. Select Search for a suitable driver for my device and click
Next.
3. Check the Specify a location box and click Next.
4. Insert the provided CD into your CD-ROM drive. Click
Browse to specify the location of the driver: D:\Driver\W2K
(D: represents your CD-ROM drive letter) and click OK.
5. Click Next.
6. When Digital Signature Not Found window appears, click
Yes to continue.
7. Click Finish.
8. When Found New Hardware message appears, wait for Add/Remove | Next | Finish.

3. Country Selection For Windows 2000

Before starting the modem for the first time, you may need to
specify the country where you locate upon different
telecommunication regulations/laws. If you have configured your
country during installation process, just ignore this section.
For Windows 95/ 98
1. Click Start | Settings | Control Panel | Add/Remove
Hardware to launch the Add/Remove Hardware Wizard.
2. Click Next and follow the on-screen instructions:

3. Under Country Select tab, select a country and click Apply |

1. Click Start | Settings | Control Panel | Modems.
2. Select Conexant HCF PCI Modem and then click Dialing
Properties.
3. From the I am in this country/region drop-down menu, select
a country and click OK.

For Windows NT
1. Click Start | Settings | Control Panel | HCF Modem
Country Select.
2. Select a Country and then click OK.

For Windows 2000

1. Click Start | Settings | Control Panel | System | Hardware |
Device Manager.
2. Double-click Modems and then Conexant HCF PCI
Modem.
3. Under Advanced tab, select a country in the Country Select
section and click OK

4. Software Uninstallation
If you need to uninstall the software of your modem, please
follow the instructions below to uninstall the modem:

For Windows 95/ 98

1. Click Start | Settings | Control Panel | Add/Remove
Programs.
2. Select Conexant HCF PCI Modem and then click
Add/Remove | Yes | OK.

For Windows Me
1. Click Start | Settings | Control Panel | System | Device
Manager | HCFMODEMWDN.
2. Select Conexant PCI Modem Enumerator and then click
Remove | OK.

For Windows NT
