4) supporting the ministries of Christ through MUMC by
their faithful giving of financial resources, and 5) reaching
out to others by witnessing to the hope they’ve found in
Jesus.

I shared my conviction, that in honoring these practical
vows, we deepen our discipleship, grow in the Christian
faith and enable the ministry of the Church to move
forward.
When each of us joined the United
Methodist Church we promised to
make visible our commitment to
Christ and his Church by faithfully
participating in the life of this
local congregation through our
Prayers, our Presence, our Gifts,
our Service and our Witness. When
we seek to fulfill the five expectations that I shared with
the inquiring couple, then we are honoring the vows that
united us with this Christian congregation.
Oh, by the way, that couple has joyfully decided that they
want to make official their commitment to join with us as
we seek to worship, follow and serve Christ together.

Spirit…Together in Fellowship…All in Service.
The Wonder Of Being A Child
Let your inner child's creativity show through in this late
summer exhibition!
Artists are invited to express a memory of the joy,
innocence, wonder, hilarity, peace, struggles, or simplicity
of being a child. Entries are open to all age groups!
We will be accepting artwork for this show on Friday, Aug.
3 and Saturday, Aug. 4 from 11am to 5pm at the Missouri
United Methodist Church lobby. Please include a frame
with your artwork.
Opening Reception will be on Friday, Aug. 10 at 6pm. This
is not a juried show, and will be free and open to the
public. Artwork not for sale. All works must adhere to the
theme, and one entry per artist, please.

New Summer Schedule for
Children’s Ministry
Our pre-school area is getting a face lift! Whittler Hall,
the Nursery Hallway and their adjoining classrooms are
all being refreshed to be safe, functional and welcoming
for all families. Many of these spaces will be getting new
furniture, cabinetry and flooring, while other spaces will
be refreshed with bright colors and directional signage.
As a result, there will be no Sunday School, PreK-5 from
June 17-July 8. However, Children’s Church during the
9:15am worship service will continue throughout the
renovations in CLC 104. During the 10:30am worship
service, there will be a children’s message, and PreK-
2nd grade are welcome in the Nursery. (The Nursery will
continue to be held in the Parlor, Room 205 across from
the Sanctuary.)

July 12: VAC’s Christmas in
July Event at MUMC
Volunteers are needed to donate food and help serve
at the Annual Christmas in July Dinner to be held this
July 12 at our church. This dinner provides food for low
income families from 5:30-7pm that day. Santa will visit
and children will be entertained with craft activities.
Donations of children’s activity books,crayons, and cash
are also welcome. If you would like to be involved, please
contact Suzanne McDavid at 474-4416 or suzmcdavid@aol.

or Pat Martin at 445-5603. This is the 27th year MUMC will
host this event for Voluntary Action Center! The generous
donations of our members have provided dinner for 250-
450 and help Voluntary Action Center raise funds for basic
needs and emergency services for low-income citizens.
