COURSE
DESCRIPTION
Principles
of
two-‐dimensional
design
for
an
understanding
of
its
nature
and
expressive
possibilities,
with
the
opportunity
to
develop
a
creative
approach
in
working
with
its
elements.
This
is
a
foundation
course
for
art
majors
and
an
entry
point
to
visual
literacy
and
art-‐making
for
all
students.
This
course
will
introduce
you
to
a
working
knowledge
of
the
elements
and
principles
of
art,
as
well
as
to
a
variety
of
mediums
and
processes.

late

missing
classes

creative

it
turns

attends

you

You
are
allowed
1
“free”
absence.
After
that
your
grade
will
be
affected.
More
than
6
absences
will
result
in
failing
the
course.
Art
Events
In
addition
to
course
attendance,
Art
Majors
are
required
to
attend
departmental
events.
Failure
to
attend
at
least
four
events
this
semester
will
result
in
a
15%
final
reduction
of
your
Final
Grade
in
any
art
class
you
are
a
part
of.
Non-‐majors
are
required
to
attend
three
events.
Late
work
Work
turned
in
1
week
past
the
due
date
will
be
penalized
one
full
letter
grade.
Work
more
than
two
weeks
late
will
not
be
accepted
for
evaluation.
