Recover partition from RAW hard drive

If you try to access the drive and see this error message:
“D:\ is not accessible.The volume does not contain a recognized file system. Please make sure
that all required file system drivers are loaded and that the volume is not corrupted.”
And after you check the drive in Disk Management, you see its file system is RAW. This could
means that the drive is damaged or partition table is corrupted. If you have any data on the drive
and you want to recover it, do not format the drive. In this video, I will show 2 methods to
recover partition from RAW hard drive which are as following:
1. Use chkdsk command to fix disk corruption (00:40)
2. Recover a partition with MiniTool Partition Wizard (01:50)
(Warning: I won’t be responsible if you can’t recover the partition with these methods so try
them at your own risk.)

If these methods didn’t work, you can try to recover files on the drive with file recovery
software, for example, Recuva, EaseUS Data Recovery, etc.

Access Denied as you do not have sufficient privileges.
You have to invoke this utility running in elevated mode.

From the error message, you may need to run chkdsk command in administrator mode. On
Windows 8/10, right-click Windows icon at bottom left and select "Command Prompt (Admin)".
Then, type the command again.

If partition recovery tool can't recover partition, you could try file recovery tool and choose to
recovery files as much as possible. If no tool can read data from the hard disk, it could be that
your disk is failing and you may need to replace it.

If partition recovery failed, you could try recover files with file recovery software. But there is a
chance that you may not be able to recover all data back.

You have to right-click on a partition in the hard disk, not clicking the entire hard disk.
If the program doesn't show any file or folder, you shouldn't use this method.

when I do chdsk on my hdd, it says in the command prompt "file record segment X is
unreadable" what does this mean? help me

The error indicates that the hard disk could be failing. If you can access other partitions on this
hard disk, you should backup it before it's too late. And do some diagnostic testing on the hard
disk. If there is bad sector, you should replace it with a new one.

It should be "chkdsk /r h:" (without quotes).

If you've just formatted a disk, you can try recover partition with TestDisk, or MiniTool Partition
Wizard. In the meantime, you should avoid writing data on the disk.
