ISO 9001: 2015 – Future Direction of

Biography of Dr. Nigel Croft

The Quality Management Symposium 2014 is set to be an
informative and thought provoking day for new ideas and
approaches in the implementation of management
systems. The conference will provide delegates a detailed
understanding of what to expect in the ISO 9001:2015
upcoming revised standard and the reasons and objectives
behind the revision.
Dr. Nigel Croft, The Chairman of the ISO Technical
Committee 176/SC 2, with overall responsibility for ISO
9001 , the world’s most implemented standard, will be in
Kuala Lumpur on the 25th November 2014. Dr. Nigel Croft
is recognised as one of the world’s foremost experts in
quality management and conformity assessments of
management systems.
First published in 1987, ISO 9001 has consistently been
ISO’s most popular series of standards. Now, building on
27 years of success, ISO Technical Committee 176/SC 2, is
in its final stage, busy laying the groundwork for the
future of quality management standards.
The ISO 9001:2015 is widely expected to form a basis for
the future development of other management systems
including environmental, health and safety, information
security and energy.
The what and why of ISO 9001:2015 will be personally
presented by the Chairman of the ISO committee
responsible for the development of ISO 9001:2015.
Dr. Nigel H. Croft has been
actively involved in quality
management since 1974 and
is recognised as one of the
world’s foremost experts in
quality management systems
and conformity assessment
of management systems.
Among his many professional
activities, he currently holds senior
management positions and serves
as a non-executive board member of a number of commercial
and non-profit organisations in the United Kingdom,
Switzerland, Middle East, Asia and South America.
After over 15 years of active involvement with ISO/TC 176, he
was appointed as Chairman of its Subcommittee SC2 in
February 2010, with responsibility for the ISO 9001
requirements standard and the ISO 9004 guidelines standard,
among others.
ISO/TC 176/SC 2 has participation from over 80 countries
represented via their National Standards Bodies, as well as
liaison organisations representing industry groups and other
interested parties.
Dr. Croft is also an active member of ISO’s Joint Technical
Coordination Group, responsible for the alignment of all ISO’s
management system standards.
Born in the UK, Nigel holds a first class honours degree in
Natural Sciences from Cambridge University, England and a
Doctorate in Materials Science from Sheffield University. He is
a Chartered Engineer in the UK, a Fellow of the Chartered
Quality Institute and a Senior Member of the American Society
for Quality.

The fee per participant is RM890.00. If the organisation is certified to ISO 9001 by a DSM Accredited Certification Body, the applicable fee per
