TITLE:
Information of changes on SOP installation procedure

MODEL AND SERIAL NUMBERS AFFECTED:

All serial number of ProSound ALPHA6 are affected.

PURPOSE:
It is to inform that installation procedure of optional software packages will be changed from floppy
disk to license key and information about this.

OVERVIEW:
On the Conventional machines, floppy disk is used for SOP (Optional software package)
installation. However, ProSound ALPHA6 changes this into the same system of PROSOUND F75
and F37 that it activates the optional software function by typing in or loading the license key/key
file to the SOP activation tool which is provided separately. The license key and key file is provided
from the web site “ALOKA Licensing Center” that you can access via the Internet. To get a license
key or key file, access the “ALOKA Licensing Center” and type in both machine and software
information in the web form. This is to inform the new installation procedure and necessary
preparation for the changed system.

FEATURE OF ALOKA LICENSING CENTER:

The “ALOKA Licensing Center” is on the Internet (It isn’t inside of company network) and it
receives an access from the Hitachi ALOKA personnel as well as the subsidiaries and
distributors of Hitachi ALOKA. It aims at being a server that issues a license key for activating
the optional software.
Overview of the flow from the arrangement to the installation of optional software is described
in the figure below.

INSTALLATION OF OPTIONAL SOFTWARE PACKAGE (SOP):

This is to explain the new procedure and the differences from the conventional way.

1. Arrangement of SOPs
The arrangement/ordering of optional software package
(SOP-ALPHA6-xx/CHM-ALPHA6) is the same as before.
However, it is provided as a sheet of paper called “SOP
Product Card” (A4 sized license certificate, see the figure
right) instead of a floppy disk.

There are “Product Name”, “Description”, “Quantity”, DICOM communication

“Product ID” and “Check Code” described in the SOP

information when you get a license key.

information. Please use this for your reference.

2. Checking the Machine information

You need to prepare the machine information together with the software information of SOP when
you are going to get the license key. The Machine information consists of “Serial No.” indicated in
the maintenance menu. Please refer to the attached documentation “CHM-ALPHA6-L/SOP-
ALPHA6-xx-L installation procedure” for more details how to collect the machine information.
The “Serial No.” indicated in the maintenance menu is five-digit number and it is
different from the product serial number.
Make sure that this number is from the maintenance menu beforehand.

3. Getting a License key

Get a license key from “ALOKA Licensing Center” based on the machine information and the
software information of the SOP. The license key is displayed on the web form and outputted as a
file (License key file) when it is issued and sent to the login user by e-mail (If you chose). If you had
already installed other software option on the machine, it will also be included in the latest license
key (Except installed software option with floppy disk). This provides you a facility of activating
several SOP with one license key, therefore, you need to keep just the latest license key for your
installation record. You can confirm this license key later, or get the license key file again by typing
the machine information on the web form.

The software options installed with floppy disk are NOT included in the license key.
When you replace HDD, it requires to reinstall the license key as well as the SOP floppy
disks to open the optional software after re-entering the “Serial No.” in the maintenance
menu. For this purpose, please be careful to keep the floppy disks without losing them.

You need to have a user account for accessing to the ALOKA Licensing Center because of the
security reason. If you didn’t have an account yet, please contact the responsible person in the
International Marketing & Sales Department of Hitachi ALOKA.
Please refer to attached documentation “CHM-ALPHA6-L/SOP-ALPHA6-xxx-L installation
procedure” for more details about the operation of ALOKA Licensing Center.

4. Preparation of activation tool

It requires to download the activation tool from ALOKA Infoshare web site and create the USB
memory for SOP activation beforehand. Please refer to attached documentation: “CHM-ALPHA6-
L/SOP-ALPHA6-xxx-L installation procedure” for more details.

The activation tool is required for the optional software installation with license key.
You can’t install the optional software from “package software” function in the maintenance
menu but you need to use this tool, please prepare it beforehand without fail. This tool can
be used for multiple machines.

5. Activation of optional function

You can activate the optional software function(s) by entering the license key or loading the license
key file that you got from “ALOKA Licensing Center”, in the activation tool that created at previous
step. The activation tool is run by “Version Up” function in the maintenance menu but doesn’t
work by “Package Software” function.
The license information is stored on the internal hard disk. So, the software re-installation is required
if you replaced the HDD for repair and so on.
