1
General Information

Berol PBX is a concentrate containing a unique blend of active oxygen and

surfactants. Typically Berol PBX should be diluted 1 part Berol PBX to 6 parts
of deionized water prior to use. This ensures that the active oxygen level is
below 3%.

Berol PBX should be used in home or institutional settings on carpets, linens,

tablecloths and clothing; wherever common spots and stains are a problem.
The technology is flexible and so functions equally well as a pre-treatment prior
to washing or a direct application on carpets to eliminate problem stains.

Berol PBX out-performs the competition for carpet spot removal on all stains
tested (see following pages for examples of common stains).

Berol PBX is effective in removing offensive odors, especially those related to

pets, from many substrates. Try a little the next time you change the cat litter.

Berol PBX can be used to formulate non-chlorine liquid bleach type products
for laundry and bathroom cleaners.

Hydrogen Peroxide Stability in Berol PBX

This product strikes an excellent balance between stability and effectiveness.

Products that are over-stabilized do not work very well because the oxygen is
not able to activate. Berol PBX does work as the following test results will
prove! However despite the high level of performance, accelerated aging tests

2
on Berol PBX indicate that the level of hydrogen peroxide remaining after
storage for one year at 25°C will be ~86% of original in the concentrate and
>89% of original (even better) for the ready-to-use diluted formulation.

Handling

Berol PBX contains concentrated hydrogen peroxide and should be handled

with appropriate care. See MSDS for details of correct handling and storage
procedures.

Berol PBX in diluted form is not a strong irritant on skin and so is safe to use.
However as with most cleaning products, extended exposure to skin and direct
contact with eyes or mucosa should be avoided.

Applications

Note: Before cleaning, test a hidden section of carpet or fabric for color
fastness.

Carpet Spot Removal

Dilute Berol PBX at a level of 1 part Berol PBX to 6 parts of deionized water.
Spray the diluted formulation onto the carpet stain and allow it to penetrate for
several minutes. Blot the treated area before wiping the stain away with a
damp cloth. Repeat if necessary until the stain is completely removed.

Laundry Pre-treatment

Dilute Berol PBX at a level of 1 part Berol PBX to 6 parts of deionized water.
Spray the diluted formulation onto the stained area of the fabric, using a
rubbing action to work the product into the stain if desired. Launder the soiled
item as usual.

Testing on many stains has shown that Berol PBX is more effective when the
spot is fresh.

Performance Test Results for Carpet Spot Removal

Common household soils were applied to pieces of cream-colored synthetic

carpet to form three rows of spots. Each row contained three stains of
decreasing size (the amounts of applied soil from left to right were 3g, 1.5g and
0.5g respectively). The first row of spots was left untreated ("Control"). The
second row of spots was treated with the US market leading spray-on product
for carpet spot removal (used as purchased) and the third row of spots was
treated with Berol PBX (diluted 1 part Berol PBX to 6 parts of deionized
water). After five minutes the treated areas were blotted, then wiped with a
damp paper towel and the carpet was allowed to air-dry. The photographs
show the appearance of the spots after treatment.
