for the admission of students under management quota
INFORMATION AND INSTRUCTIONS TO CANDIDATES
1.0. GENERAL
1.1 Seven Associations in the State of
Tamilnadu have formed a Consortium in the
name of “Consortium of Self Financing
Professional, Arts and Science Colleges in
Tamilnadu”, where majority of the Engineering
Colleges are members. The Consortium has
been granted permission to admit students
in undergraduate engineering courses
(B.E / B.Tech / B.Arch) in various private
professional colleges under the Management
Quota in the state of Tamilnadu on the basis of
the marks obtained by the student in the relevant
subjects in the qualifying examination by
“Committee to Oversee the Admission made
by the Consortium of Self financing
Professional, Arts and Science Colleges”,
Chennai vide its Proceedings No. : COA / B.E./
B.Tech. / B.Arch, / MBA / MCA / M.E., / M.Tech,
/ 01 / 2010 Dated : 20.04.2010
1.2 A Candidate desirous to seek admission for
Professional Courses under management
quota must have passed the Higher Secondary
Course (HSC) examination and also those who
will be appearing for the Instant Examination
conducted by the State Board.
1.3 Applying to Professional Courses (B.E /
B.Tech/B.Arch) Admissions 2010 under
management quota does not confer on the
person the right of eligibility for admission
to any of the Professional Courses. The
decision on the eligibility of the candidates
for admission to a course entirely rests with
the respective authorities.
1.4 The admission shall be made on the basis of
the rank list drawn which includes the academic
marks obtained in the relevant subjects in the
qualifying examination after normalization of
marks.
1.5 Admission into every professional education
institute other than minority professional
educational institution shall be made following
the reservation as per law in force.

1.6 The courses under the category of engineering
and technology are give below.
Engineering
B.E / B.Tech / B.Arch courses in the self
financing institutions affiliated to Anna University
- Chennai, Anna University - Coimbatore, Anna
University - Trichy, Anna University - Tirunelveli.
1.7 MODE OF SELECTION
(a) Admission to General Category : The
selection of candidates will be on the basis of
the marks they have obtained in the prescribed
subjects in the qualifying examination.
The academic marks in the prescribed
subjects will be reduced to a base of 200.
(Mathematics 100, Physics + Chemistry =
100). Ranking of the candidates will be done
based on the total marks to a maximum of 200.
Normalization of Marks and Inter-se Merit:
Tamil Nadu Act No.3 of 2007, dt : 5 th March,2007
and G.O. Ms.No.77, Higher Education (J2), dt.
5th April, 2007 the marks obtained by the
students in the relevent subjects in the qualifying
examination conducted by various Boards or
Authority shall be equated with the marks
obtained by the students in the same subjects
in the qualifying examination conducted by the
state Board of Tamil Nadu by adopting the
method of normalization. (e.g) if the highest
marks secured by the student of State Board of
Tamil Nadu in Physics is 100 and the highest
marks secured by a student of any other Board
in the same subject is 90 both the highest marks
will be considered to be equal to 100. If a student
of the other Board secures 60 marks in Physics
when the first mark in Physics in the same
Board is 90, the 60 marks will be considered to
be equal to 66.66 marks as arrived at below :
100 x 60
= 66.66%

 After normalization of marks in the relevant
subjects in the qualifying examination conducted
by different Boards, the qualified students of
different Boards shall be merged into a common
merit list.
A merit list will be prepared based on the total
marks of 200. In cases where more than one
Candidate have got the same marks in the
common merit list, the inter-se merit among
such Candidates shall be determined in the
order of priority as specified below :
(1) Percentage of marks in Mathematics,
(2) Percentage of marks in Physics, (3)
Percentage of marks in the Fourth optional
subject, (4) Date of Birth, (5) Random number
assigned (higher value will be given preference).
The overall rank lists will be published in the web
site of Consortium of Self - Financing
Professional, Arts and Science Colleges in
Tamilnadu, Chennai at www.tnsfconsortium.org.
and the copies of the overall rank list will be
made available for member colleges and
committee to oversee the admissions made by
consortium of self finacning professional arts
and science colleges. The candidates will also
be informed of their rank individually by
certificate of post.
(b) Admission of Vocational Stream
Candidates: Vocational Stream Candidates
ranking will also be as in the case of HSC
academic stream candidates. The academic
marks in the prescribed subjects will be
reduced to a base of 200 (Related subject 100
marks, Vocational subject including theory and
practical 100 marks).
2.0 ELIGIBILITY
2.1 Eligibility for admission to Professional
Courses (B.E. / B.Tech / B.Arch)
Application forms for admission to various
professional courses together with details of
minimum marks to be obtained in individual
subjects and groups of subjects, weightage of
qualifying Examination marks and age limit,

number of attempts to pass the qualifying
examination, improvement marks and physical
standards can be obtained from the respective
admitting authorities.
However the minimum qualifying examination
required for various professional courses is as
follows.

Metal Finishing, Repair and maintenance of
Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Equipments,
Repair and Maintenance of two wheelers,
Sheet metal Works, Tractor repair and

certificates, they have to produce the
actual marks also otherwise only the
minimum marks applicable to the grades
in the eligible subjects (Mathematics,
Physics and Chemistry) will be taken
into account.
Improvement marks will not be considered
including for other state candidates, as per G.O.
Ms. No. 184 HE (J2) Dept. dt: 09.06.2005 and
G.O. (st) No.143 HE (J2) Dept. dt: 06.05.2008.
2.2 Applying for Professional Courses (B.E / B.Tech
/ B.Arch) Admissions 2009 is only an enabling
provision and does not mean that the Candidate
satisfies all the requirements stipulated for
admission to the various courses as listed
above.
3.0 INSTRUCTIONS AND GUIDELINES TO FILE
APPLICATIONS
Candidates desirous of applying Professional
Courses (B.E / B.Tech / B.Arch) Admissions
2010 to the Consortium should file their
application in the prescribed format through any
of the following two modes:
1. In the prescribed application format by
registered post with acknowledgement due only.
2. Online direct mode
A. IN THE PRESCRIBED APPLICATION
FORMAT BY POST.
You are provided with application form along
with the cover for posting.
(i) The candidates have to fill in the
application form (Data Sheet) given along
with the information brochure.
(ii) The completed application form (Data
Sheet) along with the scruitinising,
processing and ranking fees (Refer
Table - 1 for fee particulars) in the form of
a crossed demand draft drawn in favour of
“Consortium of Self Financing
Professional, Arts and Science Colleges
in Tamilnadu”payable at chennai with all
enclosures should reach the following
address on or before 6.00 p.m. on
28.06.2010 through speed post / registered
post with acknowledegment due only.

B. ONLINE DIRECT MODE.
Candidates residing outside Tamilnadu and
who could not reach the application
distribution centre to file applications, may
opt for this mode. The procedure is as follows:
(i) Go to any internet browsing centre
(ii) Log on to www.tnsfconsortium.org
(iii) Read the instructions thoroughly by
downloading the Professional courses (B.E. /
B.Tech / B.Arch) Admissions -2010 Information
Brochure and follow the steps.

(iv) For online registration of your application click
on B.E / B.Tech / B.Arch Admissions 2010
online application.
(v) Open the application format and type the
required data. Verify whether all data are
correctly entered.
(vi) Submit the application by clicking the submit
button at the bottom of the application format
(vii) After a short time, your filled in application along
with an application number will appear on the
monitor screen. By clicking the print button take
printout of this application on a A4 size standard
copier paper.
(viii) Affix your recently taken passport size colour
photograph in the application in the space
provided for this purpose.
(ix) Affix your signature in the application at the
space provided for this purpose.
(x) The completed application along with the
scruitinising, processing and ranking fees
(Refer Table -1 for Fee particulars) in the form
of crossed demand draft drawn in favour of
“Consortium of Self Financing Professional,
Arts and Science Colleges in Tamilnadu”
payable at Chennai with all enclosures should

4.0 MEMBER COLLEGE DETAILS
The details about the member colleges are
available in the Website of the Consortium
(www.tnsfconsortium.org) and respective
member institutions’ websites.
5.0 INSTRUCTIONS TO FILL THE
PROFESSIONAL COURSES (B.E. / B. Tech
/ B. Arch) ADMISSIONS 2010 APPLICATION
FORM (DATA SHEET)
A. General Information
a) The six digit application number should be
noted down by the candidate for future
reference. Instructions should be read carefully
before filling the data sheet. A sample filled in
application form (data sheet) is given in
Annexure I for reference. Right method should
be followed to darken the alphabet/numeral with
HB pencil as shown in the data sheet.
b) The required information should be written by
black ball point pen in rectangular boxes
(wherever provided). Then the appropriate
alphabet/numeral underneath each box should
be darkened using HB pencil.
c) The data sheet will be processed by a machine.
The machine picks up only dark pencil marks.
Therefore the alphabet/numeral should be
darkened using HB pencil only. The sample
filled in application form (data sheet) is given in
Annexure I may be referred to fill up the data
sheet.
d) A wrong marking can be changed by erasing
the darkened spot completely and the
appropriate alphabet/numeral should be
darkened.
e) The data sheet should not be spoiled,
smudged, scribbled, torn or stapled. No bell
pins should be used. No marking should
be made anywhere on the application form.
f) Your photograph, signature, and address given
by you in the data sheet are to be scanned by a

machine. The machine recognizes only good
quality images, from the specified areas of the
data sheet. Therefore paste a good quality
colour photograph with light colour background
taken not more than two months earlier, Use
black ball point only for writing your address and
affixing your signature
g) Please note that your name, your parent’s/
guardian’s name, and your date of birth should
exactly be the same as given in your 10 class
certificate. Any deviation, whenever found, may
lead to cancellation of your candidature.
h) All item nos.(from 2 to 24) in the data sheet
should be filled up by candidate in all aspects.
The item Nos.21 b,c,d can be left blank for
candidates who belong to non minority
community. Silimlarly a candidate should fill
item No.16a or 16b depending on his/her
qualification. Incomplete application or
application filled in a language other than English
will be summarily rejected.
i) Options filled by you in the application form (data
sheet) cannot be changed at a later stage.
B. Specific guidelines to fill up the various
items of the aplication form (data sheet)
5.1. Item No. 2 : Name of the Candidate The name
should be written neatly and legibly in capital
letters as given in 10th class certificate using
black ball point pen.Single letter should be
written in a box. Then the corresponding
alphabet underneath each box should be
darkened using HB pencil. If your name requires
more then 30 boxes, darken the star(*) in the
31 column of the first row.
5.2. Item No. 3 :The date of birth should be entered
as per English calendar and as recorded in 10th
class certificate. Numerals from 01 to 31 should
be used for date. Numerals from 01 to 12 should
be used for month. Last two digits of year of
birth should be used to fill the year. The
corresponding boxes underneath for day, month
 & year should be darkened. The attested xerox
copy of the Date of Birth proof should be
enclosed.
5.3. Item No. 4 : PINCODE of your communication
address should be written in the space provided
as it will be entered in box 14. The corresponding
boxes should be darkened underneath .
5.4. Item No. 5 : PINCODE of your permanent
residence should be written in the space
provided. The corresponding numerals
underneath should be darkened.
5.5. Item No. 6 : The corresponding number should
be entered in the box and the appropriate
numeral should be darkened for occupation.
5.6. Item No. 7 : The corresponding number should
be entered in the box and the appropriate
numeral should be darkened for income of the
parent/guardian.
5.7. Item No. 8 : Appropriate numeral given against
the community should be written in the box and
the corresponding numera should be darkened.
5.8. Item No. 9 to 13 : The appropriate number
should be entered in the box and the
corresponding numerals should be darkened.
5.9 Item No. 14 : Name & Residential Address for
communication should be written neatly and
legibly in capital letters using black ball
Single letter should be written in a box. Much
care should be taken while filling the address.
A recent passport size colour photograph should
be affixed in the provided box.
5.10. Item No. 15 : Candidate should affix their
signature(within the provided box) using
black ball point pen.
5.11. Item No. 16a : HSC academic/equivalent
passed students with subjects Maths, Physics,
Chemistry and fourth optional subject should
enter the subject marks obtained by them and

maximum marks for each subject in the
respective box and the corresponding numerals
underneath should be darkened. Group code
should be entered as in the +2 Mark sheet.
5.12 Item No. 16b : This should be filled by the
students those who have studied H.S.C.
Vocational group only with Maths or Physics or
Chemistry as the related subject.
a) Related subject and Vocational Subjects
(e.g. 1)
(i) If the maximum marks in the related subject
(say Mathematics) is 200 and the marks
obtained is 95, they should be entered in related
Subject I column and the related subject II
column should be left as blank.
(ii) If the Vocational Subject consists of onetheory
and two practicals and if the maximum marks
are 200, 200, 200 and the marks obtained are
180, 190, 200 respectively. They should be
entered in(i)VocationalTheory(ii)Vocational
Practical I and (iii) Vocational Practical -II
columns respectively.
b) Related subject and Vocational
(i) If the maximum marks in the two related
subjects (say Mathematics and Physics) are
200 each and the marks obtained are190,185
respectively, they should be entered in related
subject I and related subject II columns
respectively.
(ii) If the Vocational Subject consists of on theory
and one practical and if the maximummarks are
200 and 200 and the marks obtained are 172
and 180 respectively, then they should be
entered in vocational theory and vocational
practical I column and the vocational practical II
column should be left as blank. Group code
should be entered as in the +2 Mark sheet.
5.13 Item No. 17(a) : Code No. of the Examination
Board should be entered as per the Annexure
II and the corresponding numerals should be
darkened if the candidate belongs to HSC
(Academic / Equivalent).
5.14 Item No. 17(b) : Code No. of the Vocational
subjects should be entered as per the Annexure
III and the corresponding numerals should be
darkened if the candidate belongs to HSC
(Vocational)
5.15 Item No. 18 : If a candidate has passed the
HSC (Academic / Vocational / Equivalent) exam
in the first attempt, or by improvement exam,
he/she has to write the number in the box
provided and darken the corresponding
numerals.
5.16 Item No. 19 : The Candidate should enter the
register number of the HSC (Academic /
Vocational / Equivalent) of the final attempt in
the box and the corresponding numerals should
be darkened. If the Register number has any
alphabet it should be written in the first box
(shading of the alphabet is not necessary).
Numbers should be written follwed by the
alphabet. If the number of digits are less then
eleven first few boxes can be left as blank.
If the Register number has no alphabet, the first
box can be left as blank. If the number of digits
are less then eleven first few boxes can be left
as blank. Month and Year shoul be entered and
the corresponding numerals should be
darkened.
5.17. Item No. 20: Mobile number should be
entered and appropriate box should be darkened
5.18. Item No. 21a & 21b: Appropriate box should be
darkened.

5.19 Item No. 21c & 21d: This item is applicable
only for the candidates who belong to minority
community. Non minority candidates need not
fill this item and can be left blank.
5.20 Item No. 22 : Write the name of the bank, place
of bank, DD Amount, DD number and DD Date
neatly and legibly.
5.21 Item No.23: The number should be entered
and the corresponding numeral should be
darkned.
5.22. Item No. 24: DECLARATION:
Place, Date, Name, Mobile No. Phone No. and
E.Mail ID should be written neatly and the
declaration should be signed by both the
candidate & Parent / Guardian.
The application form (Data Sheet) without the
signatures of candidate and signature of Parent/
Guardian is liable to be rejected without any
further correspondence.
IMPORTANT POINTS :
1. Your Applicaton Number is the Registration
Number of the Professional Courses
(B.E / B.Tech /B.Arch) Admissions 2010, hence
you have to write the Application number and
your name in all the enclosures enclosed along
with the main application at the top right hand
corner.
2. A Candidate needs to submit only one
application for all the courses irrespective of the
category.
3. The Candidates are required to enclose only the
attested xerox copies of the following
certificates along with the filled in application
form (Data Sheet) :
a) Mark Sheet of 10th Standard.
b) Mark Sheets (All appearance) of HSC
(Academic / Vocational / Equivalent)
Examination.
c) Permanent Community Certificate card, Minority
Certificate (if any).
d) Proof of Date of Birth certificate issued by
competant authority.
e) Transfer Certificate
4. Applications not received on or before the
due date, not in the prescribed form, not
correctly filled up or in respect, of which the
prescribed certificates and documents are not
enclosed or do not otherwise fulfil the terms of
the instructions will be considered defective and
are liable for rejection without notice.
The Secretary, Professional Courses (B.E /
B.Tech / B.Arch) Admissions 2010 will not be
responsible for any delay in Post or otherwise
in respect of receipt of application after the due
date. No further correspondence will be
entertained on matters pertaining to the
Professional Courses (B.E / B.Tech / B.Arch)
Admissions 2010.
5. This information Brochure is also available in
our website www.tnsfconsortium.org.
6. Candidates are requested to put a tick mark in
the relevant boxes provided in the cover and also
requested to write the six digit application
number in the space provided for it.
7. Community Certificate obtained from other
states will not be considered for communal
reservation.
8. Candidates are advised to post the completed
application by speed post / registered post with
acknowlegement due well in advance so that it
will reach the consortium office before the last
date for submission of filled in application form.

9. Candidates must write their Application Number
and their Name on the back side of the Demand
Draft, and also on the right hand top corner of
all the copies of certificates enclosed.
10 . Xerox copy of the filled in application form (Data
Sheet) and Demand draft can be retained by
the candidates for future reference.
11. Do not punch or staple the Data Sheet. Do not
fold, smudge or scribble on the Data sheet.
12. The Data sheet should be kept loosely and safely
and sent in the same cover provided for this
purpose.
13. All enclosures can be stapled together, but the
Data sheet should be kept separately in the
same cover along with the enclosures.
14. The SC / SCA / ST candidates belonging to
Tamilnadu desirous of availing fee concession
should submit an attested xerox copy of the
permanent community certificate card.
15. Individual Application form should be enclosed
with prescribed fee (Refer Table 1). Bulk
Application & DD with Bulk Amount will not
be accepted
16. All the columns on both sides of the Application
Form (Data Sheet) must be filled without fail.
17. Xerox copies of the Application Form (Data
Sheet) should not be used.
18. The downloaded blank application form from the
Consortium Website should not be used.
