IMPLEMENTING RULES AND REGULATIONS (IRR)

in search for the


TEN OUTSTANDING STUDENTS OF CBM
IRR 1.0 GENERAL GUIDELINES

IRR 1.1 The TEN OUTSTANDING STUDENTS OF CBM will be one of the
highlights of the Opening Program and Recognition Day in the celebration of the
College of Business and Management (CBM) Foundation Day/Anniversary.

IRR 1.2 The TEN OUTSTANDING STUDENTS OF CBM is given to a


student who have shown exemplary performance along academic and non-
academic undertakings, leadership and services, and social
responsibility/involvement. The recipient of this award must have a good moral
standing, and must not have been found guilty of a serious infraction of the
University’s disciplinary rules.

IRR 1.4 The TEN OUTSTANDING STUDENTS OF CBM is composed of


the following awards (not in order):
1. Outstanding BSA Student
2. Outstanding BSBA-FM Student
3. Outstanding BSOA Student
4. Outstanding BSEntrep Student
5. Outstanding CBM Student Leader
6. Outstanding CBM Student Researcher
7. Outstanding CBM Student Extentionist
8. Outstanding CBM Student Athlete
9. Outstanding CBM Student Journalist
10. Outstanding CBM Student Artist

IRR 1.5 The CBM will create a Screening and Search Committee that will
identify and select the TEN OUTSTANDING STUDENTS OF CBM. The
committee shall be composed of a Chairman who will be appointed by the
College Dean, Student Affairs and Services Coordinator, CBM Faculty
Representatives as Members, respectively.

IRR 2.0 QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

IRR 2.1 The TEN OUTSTANDING STUDENTS OF CBM is open to all first
year to fourth year students of Partido State University – College of Business and
Management (PSU - CBM) who are enrolled in any of the four programs of the
CBM.

IRR 2.2 There will be no application nor submission of requirements to be


done. The Nominees will be coming solely from the recommendation of their
respective advisers, program directors, coaches, and instructors. Only the
recommended individuals will be qualified to go on the next step of screening
process.

IRR 2.2 A student can be nominated in the various categories or have a


multiple nominations, as long as it is officially endorsed by the respective
officials. However, in case of multiple grants, only one slot shall be given to
him/her in the final list of Top 10 and the remaining slots will be given to others.

IRR 3.0 SPECIFIC CRITERIA, RULES AND GUIDELINES

IRR 3.1 In the Outstanding Students of the different Programs (namely


Outstanding BSA Student, Outstanding BSBA-FM Student, Outstanding BSOA
Student, and Outstanding BSEntrep Student), each Program Director has a
prerogative to choose at least (3) Outstanding Student Nominees that would best
represent its program.

IRR 3.1.1 Nominee should have shown exemplary performance along


academic and non-academic undertakings, leadership and services, and
social responsibility/involvement.

IRR 3.1.2 The Program Director through his/her letter of


recommendation shall have an attachment of the SIAS Generated Grade
Report Card for 1st Semester of A/Y 2017-2108 of the nominees.

IRR 3.1.3 The nominees must not have failing nor incomplete grades
in its credentials to qualify. A nominee who does not meet this requirement
is automatically disqualified.

IRR 3.2 In the selection of Outstanding CBM Student Leader, the adviser of
the different CBM Student Organizations/Council/Class Officers has a
prerogative to choose at least one (1) Outstanding Student Leader Nominee that
would best represent its organization.

IRR 3.2.1 Nominee should have shown exemplary performance in


leadership and services.

IRR 3.1.2 The Adviser through his/her letter of recommendation shall


have an attachment of the Summary of accomplishments done by the
organization as headed by the said nominee.
IRR 3.3 In the selection of Outstanding CBM Student Researcher, the
adviser of the Business Research Course for 1st Semester of Academic Year
2017- has a prerogative to choose at least three (3) Outstanding Student
Researcher Nominees that would best represent its class. In case of a group
thesis, the group shall be recognized as one nominee.

IRR 3.3.1 Nominee should have shown exemplary performance in the


Final Defense/Student Colloquium.

IRR 3.3.2 The Adviser through his/her letter of recommendation shall


have an attachment of the photocopy of the title page and approval sheet
of the research/thesis conducted by the nominee.

IRR 3.4 In the selection of Outstanding CBM Student Extentionist, the


adviser of the different CBM Student Organizations/Council/Class Officers has a
prerogative to choose at least one (1) Outstanding Student Extentionist Nominee
that would best represent its organization.

IRR 3.4.1 Nominee should have shown exemplary performance in the


service for the community. As he/she involved himself/herself in the
extension activities done by the College.

IRR 3.4.2 The Adviser through his/her letter of recommendation shall


have an attachment of any proof of service of the nominee (e.g. pictures in
action, certificate of participation, copy of attendance, and the like).

IRR 3.5 In the selection of Outstanding CBM Student Athlete, the coach of
the different sports event in the recently concluded Intramurals and SCUAA has
a prerogative to choose at least one (1) Outstanding Student Athlete Nominee
that would best represent its team or sports event.

IRR 3.5.1 Nominee should have shown exemplary performance in


regional, national or international sports competition.

IRR 3.5.2 The Coach through his/her letter of recommendation shall


have an attachment of any proof of sports involvement of the nominee
(e.g. pictures in action, certificate of participation, and the like).

IRR 3.6 In the selection of Outstanding CBM Student Journalist, the


moderator of the Kaizen Publication and Radiance has a prerogative to choose
at least one (1) Outstanding Student Journalist Nominee that would best
represent the publication.

IRR 3.6.1 Nominee should have shown exemplary performance in


journalism in regional, national or international press conferences.
IRR 3.6.2 The Coach through his/her letter of recommendation shall
have an attachment of any proof of publication involvement of the
nominee (e.g. pictures in action, certificate of participation, and the like).

IRR 3.7 In the selection of Outstanding CBM Student Artist, the coach of the
different Literary, Visual Arts, Musical, and Dance contests or events in the
LITVIMUSDA AND CULTURE AND ARTS FESTIVAL has a prerogative to
choose at least one (1) Outstanding Student Artist Nominee that would best
represent its event.

IRR 3.7.1 Nominee should have shown exemplary performance in


culture and arts in regional, national or international event.

IRR 3.7.2 The Coach through his/her letter of recommendation shall


have an attachment of any proof of involvement in the LITVIMUSDA 2017
of the nominee (e.g. pictures in action, certificate of participation, and the
like).

IRR 3.8 The nominees will not be named to the public and will then be
endorsed only to the Screening Committee for review and further deliberation.
Preliminary scoring should be undertaken using the prescribed rubrics and score
sheet. For the second stage of the search, the committee shall invite the
nominees or candidates for casual interview. After the deliberation, the
committee shall come up with the final ten outstanding students of CBM. The
decision of the CBM Screening and Search Committee shall be final and
irrevocable.

IRR 3.9 The following criteria shall be used:

IRR 3.9.1 The Preliminary Search shall be based on the


recommendations and attachments provided by the respective school
officials. The members of the committee have the privilege to scrutinize
the nominees through observation in the class, in the community and in
the university. The committee has the jurisdiction to conduct informal
interviews to the friends, advisers, peers, and colleagues of the nominees
in order to gather substantive evidential matter.
IRR 3.9.2 The Second Stage of the search shall be the casual
interview. The Screening and Search Committee shall act as the panel of
the interviewees, who will conduct the interview portion.

IRR 3.9.2.1 The interview will be graded based on the following:


a. Substance - 40%
b. Character or Disposition - 30%
c. Honesty - 20%
d. Input - 10%
TOTAL - 100%

IRR 3.10 The TEN OUTSTANDING STUDENTS OF CBM will receive a


medal and certificate of recognition. Awarding shall be done on January during
the Opening Program and Recognition Day of the College of Business and
Management (CBM) Foundation Day/Anniversary.
