1. One of the major takeaways for unit one would have to be miss representation.

That's part of the unit open my eyes to how women are viewed and treated in a

America. In this unit we learned about how women over centuries and even now in

present day women are treated unfair and terribly in society. In the movie we watch

called miss representation women in the media are viewed as sex object . And

because they are viewed as sex object in the media it affects how men view women

and how women view themselves. And because men see this they view women poorly

and women thesleves view himself poorly. This stood out because of how accurate

and because this a big problem today. Kids are growing up and see these media

outlets and act upon theses outlets.

2. From unit 2 a takeaway from this unit is LGBTQIA struggles for equality. We learned

about how they fought for freedom. What helped to understand this unit was the

stonewall uprising film we watched in class that help to better understand this unit.

What was shocking about this unit is how we learned about how america dealt with

gay men. And how they would have commercials that would shown and describe gay

men a pedificals and criminals. And because of that they were viewed negatively

around america and still are today.

3. This course changed who I am because it widened my eyes to social problems and

parts of history. Without this class I would be very ignorant to some events that are
surrounding and shaping our society today. Before taking this course I didn't even

Notice how much gender constructs what happened around us. For example when

learning about the wage gap and how men make more than women. And this system

of power thats men are always on top and women are not. But this class has opened

my mind to think deeper about gender.
